Abstract: A process is described for the preparation of a manganese complex catalyst having the formula: ##STR1## wherein Mn is manganese in the +4 oxidation state; R is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 radical selected from the group consisting of alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, benzyl and radical combinations thereof;at least two R radicals may also be connected to one another so as to form a bridging unit between two oxygens that coordinate with the manganese;L is a ligand selected from a C.sub.3 -C.sub.60 radical having at least 3 nitrogen atoms coordinating with the manganese; andY is an oxidatively-stable counterion;the process includes the steps of:(i) reacting in an nonaqueous alcoholic medium a manganese (II) salt with the ligand L to form a manganese coordinated substance, a counterion salt M.sub.z Y.sub.

Abstract: Improved gas burner apparatus and methods of burning fuel gas-air mixtures are provided whereby flue gases having low NO.sub.x contents are formed. The burner apparatus includes a refractory burner tile having an air discharge opening therein and a wall surrounding the opening which extends into the furnace space and provides a mixing zone therein. At least one passage is formed in the burner tile which opens into the mixing zone and fuel gas is jetted through the passage whereby flue gases are drawn therethrough and a fuel gas-flue gases mixture is discharged into the mixing zone. The fuel gas-flue gases mixture is swirled in the mixing zone and mixes with air therein, and the resulting mixture is discharged and burned in a primary reaction zone in the furnace space.

Abstract: A swag support comprising an elongated tubular rod and a longitudinal slot at the rear side of the rod. Each swag holder includes a head portion mounted in the slot in the rod; an arm portion extending upwardly from the head and a C-shaped front portion that extends from the arm portion over the top of the rod and in spaced relation to the front and bottom of the rod and terminates in the distal end spaced from the bottom of the rod to allow a fabric swag scarf to be introduced into the swag holders from below the rod. Each swag holder has a fabric clip for holding an upper portion of the fabric swag scarf at a rear side of the rod and each swag holder also has a plurality of fingers on an inner side of the C-shaped front portion which define a plurality of fabric fold receiving slots at spaced locations along the C-shaped front portion.

Abstract: A major increase in terminal explosive energy of a missile by reacting bulk aluminum, titanium, magnesium, steel, and/or organic matrix composite missile structure with oxygen enriched air which is collected as the missile flies to its target. Oxygen rich air is produced from a small amount of engine bleed or atmospheric air processed through a molecular sieve on board oxygen generating system (OBOG), and stored under pressure in the missile fuel tanks as they are emptied during flight. Explosive reaction of the oxygen with missile structure is achieved with a flexible linear shaped charge (FLSC) attached to tank wall structure. Initiation of an explosive reaction between the bulk aluminum and oxygen can be achieved by a conventional shape charge or the like.
