  • Patent number: 11666376
Abstract: An electrosurgical instrument with first and second branches pivotably arranged at a hinge is disclosed. The hinge is formed by a support pin at the second branch and a corresponding support cavity at the first branch. At one side adjacent to the hinge location at which the support pin extends into the support cavity, a knife guide cavity is provided in the second branch for a moveable guided support of a knife. Parallel to the pivot axis defined by the hinge, the knife guide cavity is arranged adjacent to an axial end of the support pin. The hinge or the hinge location formed by the hinge at which the support pin is arranged in the support cavity is only arranged on one side of the knife guide cavity viewed in a direction parallel to the pivot axis. The respective other side is free from hinge components.

  • Publication number: 20230148838
Abstract: An instrument according to the invention for medical or surgical treatment of a human or animal patient comprises at least one tool suitable for influencing a patient, e.g. an electrode, which is or are located in the field of view of an optical element. The optical element is arranged inside a channel in which a fluid flow can be maintained or can be caused in distal direction. The light passage window of optical element is offset relative to the distal opening of channel in proximal direction. A closure device is arranged between light passage window and opening of channel, which blocks passage of substances, particularly passage of liquid droplets and particles, from the opening to the light passage window as long as it is in closed position. If the closure device is open, it unblocks the fluid path and the light path between the light passage window to the opening. Preferably the closure device is controlled pneumatically by means of the liquid or gaseous fluid flowing inside channel.

  • Patent number: 11648051
Abstract: A surgical instrument includes a jaw tool with two branches that can be closed for grasping tissue. In order to transmit the closing force to at least one branch, the branch is coupled with a preferably manually actuatable pull/push element, and, for coupling, an actuating pin that supports a sleeve interacts via the sleeve with a coupling track, in which case the sleeve rolls off the coupling track. In this manner, any deformation, abrasion or burr formation on the coupling track is prevented to such an extent that, even after numerous closing movements of the branches, the branches can still be actuated unimpaired by any wear of the coupling track and the actuating pin, respectively.

  • Patent number: 11648050
Abstract: An instrument for coagulation and dissection of biological tissue including a tool with coagulation electrodes and at least one cutting electrode. The electrodes are actuated via an operating circuit including an evaluation circuit, to which an external apparatus delivers an evaluation signal with first and second half-waves having opposite polarities. During at least one first half-wave, the evaluation circuit checks whether a first switch or a second switch are actuated on the instrument. Depending on the evaluation result, a triggering signal is transmitted to a switching unit. Depending on the triggering signal, the switching unit is switched into a first or second switching state. In the second switching state, no voltage suitable for dissection and no current suitable for dissection, respectively, is applied to the cutting electrode. In the first switching state, a voltage suitable for dissection or a current suitable for dissection is applied to the cutting electrode.

Abstract: An instrument connection device having a flexible hose-like body with a flexible wall in which the proximal end of a hose is inserted. The hose has a lumen that extends longitudinally through the hose. A wire is arranged inside the hose, for example, inside the lumen. The wire is guided through a punctured hole in the wall that the wire may create during a penetration of wall. The punctured hole may be straight and guides the obliquely. For example, the hole may be inclined to the radial axis and the longitudinal center axis.

  • Patent number: 11583329
Abstract: A cryosurgical instrument includes a feed line for conveying fluid into an expansion chamber. The feed line has a capillary line section that terminates in the expansion chamber and forms an aperture for the fluid to undergo the Joule-Thomson effect. The flow cross-section of the feed line decreases in at least one transition section of the feed line in the form of a funnel. Following each transition section there preferably follows a step section, in which latter section the flow cross-section is preferably largely constant. The last step section is preferably formed by the capillary line section. Due to the acceleration of the fluid in the transition sections and the abating of pressure fluctuations in the capillary tube section and, optionally in the additional step sections, the expansion range in the expansion chamber is increased, without impeding the backflow of the expanded gas out of the expansion chamber.

  • Publication number: 20230050388
Abstract: An instrument having a dosing unit connected to a handle or housing of instrument. The dosing unit may include a reusable actuator with a drive unit and a single-use cartridge. The Cartridge may have a cylinder and a piston, and may be filled by a user prior to the intervention or may be prefilled by the manufacturer. • Patent number: 11497542
Abstract: A forceps instrument comprises, for the support of at least one pivotally supported branch, a bearing insert which is inserted into a base in order to support at least one pivotable branch. The bearing insert may be inserted transversely with respect to the pivot axis into a corresponding compartment of the base and fixed there in the compartment, due to detent action. The bearing insert comprises two bearing elements, including cylindrical journals, which are arranged on bearing parts of the bearing insert, without being in contact with each other, the bearing parts having the form of plates, that are oriented parallel to each other. The two journals come into engagement with corresponding openings of the branch, in which case the distance remaining between the end sides of the journals can be used for the arrangement of miscellaneous elements, including a cutting knife.

  • Patent number: 11478294
Abstract: A medical instrument comprising a device for activating or deactivating a function of the instrument. The device comprises first and second parts, which are each movable into an operative position relative to the other part to activate or deactivate a function of the instrument. A second control element for moving the second part into the operative position provides a control portion and comprises, for moving the first part into the operative position, a first control element which provides an additional control portion. The first control element can be moved in an opposite direction the direction from the second control element. Accordingly, the function is activated by moving a control element in a distal direction, and by moving another control element in a proximal direction. A deflection of force by one actuating element for actuating the first part or the second part in the opposite direction is not necessary.

  • Publication number: 20220331002
Abstract: A knife cartridge for use in a surgical instrument. The knife cartridge includes a blade that can be operated by a second operating element. The blade is held in a blade housing that can be transferred from a first locking position (passive position) into a second locking position (active position) by a first operating element. In the passive position the blade housing is completely located inside the cartridge housing and the blade is locked therein. In the active position the blade housing projects out of the cartridge housing. Only in the active position a locking between the blade housing and blade can be released, whereby also only then a driving connection is established between the second operating element and the blade.

  • Patent number: 11426187
Abstract: The forceps instrument includes a central pull-push member formed by transmission and actuating elements. The central push-pull member opens and closes the branches, and also acts as a tissue abutment that is variable based on the degree of closure of the branches. The variable tissue abutment may be configured as a slider element and is adjustable proportionally to the opening angle of the branches. When grasped, the vessels are brought proximally. The tissue abutment acts as a spacer between the hinge region and the grasped material. While the branches are being closed, the vessel is held stationary and compressed. During compression, expansion of the vessel occurs axially in distal and proximal directions. Due to the receding of the variable tissue abutment during the closing operation, room is created for the grasped material to escape. Tissue accumulations can thus be restricted and overstressing of the tissue can be counteracted.
