The closure is provided with one or more vent grooves cut through the primary threads in the inner wall of the closure skirt. The ends of each thread segment are rounded and a smaller reinforcing secondary thread within the groove extends across the groove connecting the thread segments. The lower edge portion of the secondary thread is aligned with the lower edge portion of the adjacent segments of the primary thread to maximize the venting space over the secondary thread.

Abstract: A one-piece plastic cylindrical closure for a container that is useful as a measuring cup. The closure has an integral internal skirt member projecting into the neck of the container which functions as a self-draining member to return residual liquid remaining in the closure to the container and to prevent this liquid from reaching the threaded exterior neck portion of the container.

Abstract: This invention relates to a spray nozzle for fitment to a "squeeze" container. The nozzle features a gas-liquid mixing chamber which provides for axial and radial mixing of fluids in the container during the dispensing cycle. The spray nozzle of this invention provides a spray dispensing mode even when the container is inverted.

Abstract: This invention relates to a tampon applicator having a first elongated hollow thermoplastic tube which is receivable of a tampon and a second elongated hollow thermoplastic tube which is capable of receiving within its interior the first hollow tube for packaging purposes and which is capable of being inserted into the interior of the first hollow tube for purposes of dispensing the tampon from the first hollow tube. This dual function is achievable by the utilization of an accordian wall portion for the second hollow tube which allows it to change from a diameter larger than the outside diameter of the first hollow tube to a diameter smaller than the inside diameter of the first hollow tube.

Abstract: This invention relates to a thermoplastic tamper-indicating closure. The closure features a top wall and an annular downwardly depending sidewall. Connected to the lower end of the annular sidewall by way of an annular frangible area is an annular tamper-indicating band. The tamper-indicating band features an annular upper portion which depends downwardly from the frangible area. The band additionally has an annular lower portion hingedly connected to the annular upper portion and which comprises a plurality of spaced apart tabs with each tab connected to its neighboring tab by way of a flexible web. Each of the tabs preferably has a scalloped recess at their lower extent to provide some circumferential flexibility when the annular lower portion of the band is hinged inwardly from its molded position to its utilitarian position.

By way of an annular frangible area, there is an annular tamper-indicating band connected to the lowermost extent of the closure annular sidewall. The band additionally has an annular lower portion which comprises a plurality of spaced-apart tabs, each tab connected to its neighboring tab by way of a flexible web. Each of the tabs has an outwardly extending projection at its lowermost extent. These projections each provide a surface which will be placed in a position of interference with a container annular flange when the tabs are bent inwardly and upwardly and the closure is fitted to the container. The annular upper portion is connected to the annular lower portion by way of an annular hinge.

The skirt carries about its inside surface a closure thread for cooperation with the neck thread of the container. A circular, flexible, resilient liner is positioned against but rotatable with respect to the inside surface of the top wall and has a diameter greater than the outside diameter of the container lip which defines the container mouth. There is provided an annular projection which is located adjacent the inside intersection of the top wall and the skirt. This projection has a configuration whereby it presses the liner on the outside edge of the container lip to form a gas-tight seal when the closure is fitted onto the container.

Abstract: This invention relates to a device for thoroughly mixing the liquid contents of first and second containers without exposing either the liquid contents or the resultant mixture to outside contamination. The device features a movable pumping diaphragm which traverses a pumping chamber so that the pumping chamber is divided into an upper and lower chamber. In a first position, the diaphragm causes the upper chamber to have a reduced volume while the lower chamber has an increase volume. In a second position, the pumping diaphragm causes the lower chamber to have a decreased volume while the upper chamber has an increased volume. Valving assemblies are utilized in conjunction with both the upper and lower chamber to selectively allow for the ingress and egress of fluids from these chambers dependent upon the position of the pumping diaphragm.
