Abstract: In a marking device for marking an information carrying medium, a marking tip is provided on an arm, and the arm is resiliently mounted by means of a leaf spring. In order to relieve stresses on the joints between the leaf spring and the arm, a region of the leaf spring to which the arm is affixed is bent, so that one portion of the leaf spring is affixed to the side of the arm toward the information carrying medium, and another portion of the leaf spring is affixed to the opposite side of the arm.
Abstract: A thermal printing head provided with a plurality of electric heating members for recording information on a recording material, such as heat-sensitive paper. The heating members are voltage-dependent resistive elements and are mounted on a support member in the form of a substrate. Means are provided for the selective supply of current to one or several of the elements. At least some of the elements are constituted of silicon carbide.
Abstract: A printing head for an ink jet printer having a plate-shaped part with opposite large surfaces provided with spaced grooves which, when assembled, form pressure chamber channels. The plate-shaped part has a recess in a side thereof whereby a second plate is inserted in the recessed position having channels which are aligned with and correspond to the pressure chamber channels of the first plate. The channels in the second plate continuously taper toward the outlet thereof to form fine capillary tubes, the latter being connected alternately to channels in one large surface and the other large surface of the first plate. The sealing of the plates is on one surface only.
Abstract: An ink ribbon arrangement for a high speed printer, wherein the printer has a printing device which is movable in a given direction with respect to a recording medium. The ink ribbon comprises a pair of spools, and ribbon guides for guiding the ribbon between these spools in a path such that the ink ribbon extends past the printing device. The spools and the ribbon guides are mounted to form a single unit that is pivotally movable about an axis normal to the direction of relative movement between the printing device and recording medium. The unit may thus be moved to a printing position, wherein the ribbon extends obliquely with respect to the relative direction of movement between the printing device and the recording medium, and to a further position at which it extends substantially parallel to and below a line of text printed on the recording medium, thereby enabling reading of the line of text.

Abstract: A printing head for an ink jet printer in which a multiplicity of channels are formed, preferably in one plate of the head. Each of the channels communicates with a capillary tube that opens into a boundary surface of the plate. The arrangement of the channels is such that the head can be of a smaller size than other constructions, and the openings of the capillary tubes can be located closer to one another.

Abstract: An arm in an information transmission device having a device for printing or punching holes in an information carrier. The arm is light weight, occupies less space, and operates at a higher speed than known devices of the same type. The arm is supported by a spring element and is adopted for use with an electromagnet whereby the arm is resiliently pivotable toward and away from the carrier in order to punch or print information on the carrier.
Abstract: An ink reservoir and supply arrangement associated with a printing head of an ink jet printer having means for filling the supply device automatically. The device is arranged to follow the movements of the printing head along an adjacent recording medium. A liquid filling member is adapted to transfer the liquid from the storing device to the supply device.

Abstract: A printing head for an ink jet printer in which a liquid reservoir is operatively associated therewith. The liquid reservoir is provided with an air inlet opening having a filter which permits the passage of air but prevents liquid flow thereby preventing the leakage of liquid out of the reservoir upon the agitation of the liquid within the reservoir.

Abstract: A direction sensing device for a punched tape which is capable of movement linearly through an optical reading apparatus. The device is of a simplified design that is easily incorporated with the optical reading apparatus. The basic structure includes means for dividing the light projected from the light source, and a pair of photosensitive members that are activated in sequence thereby determining the direction of movement of the tape.
