Abstract: Method for manufacturing brushes, whereby bundles of fibers (12) are provided in a brush body (13), whereby this method also comprises a step whereby the far ends (2) of the fibers (3) are subjected to a processing by bringing them into contact with a processing equipment (5), characterized in that, during the aforesaid step, the fibers (3) and the processing equipment (5) are mutually put into contact whereas the fibers (3) are being held loosely together.

Abstract: Method for manufacturing brushes, whereby bundles of fibers (2) are provided in openings (3) in a brush body (4) by a filling tool (5) of the type which at least consists of a bundle remover (7) for separating bundles of fibers (2) from a fiber magazine (8), a mechanism (9) for supplying fastening material (10) in order to fix the bundles of fibers (2) in the openings (3), a filling tool slide (11) moving to and fro to guide the bundles of fibers (2) to the brush body (4) and a needle (13) to put every bundle of fibers (2) concerned in the corresponding opening (3) together with a fastening element (14) formed of the fastening material (10), wherein at least the filling tool slide (11) is controlled by an individual electric drive element (27).

Abstract: Device for compensating the vibrations caused by the movements of a tool of a brush manufacturing machine, more particularly of a tool (1) having at least one slide (2) which is provided in a first guide (3) such that is can move to and fro and which is provided with driving device (4) for this slide, wherein the device includes a compensating mass (16) and of a moving device (17) to move this compensating mass (16) in the opposite sense of the movement of the slide (2).

Abstract: Device for manufacturing brushes, which mainly consists of a number of tools along which is provided a transport means (7), onto which transport means (7) is fixed at least one brush holder (12), characterized in that the device (1) is provided with coupling means which make it possible to couple and uncouple the brush holder (12) concerned to and from the transport means (7), and in that, opposite to at least one tool, a drive (35) is provided to position and move the uncoupled brush holder (12) in relation to said tool (2-6), whereby this drive (35) is provided with locking means which make it possible to fix an uncoupled brush holder (12) to this drive (35).

Abstract: A method and device for manufacturing brushes. The device includes at least one carrier (2) with openings (3) which are mutually arranged according to a certain pattern. The fiber bundles (4) are separated laterally from at least one quantity of loose fibers (7). The fiber bundles (4) are inserted in a mechanical manner, step-by-step, in the openings (3) of the carrier (2). An extremity of the fiber bundles (4) are transferred simultaneously in a mechanical manner from the carrier (2) toward a holder (10). The fiber bundles (4) are fixed in at least a portion of a brush body (5) by positioning the extremity of the fiber bundles (4) in a mold, such that the fiber bundles (4) extend through the holder (10). A synthetic material is injected in the mold and form at least a portion of the brush body (5).

Abstract: Apparatus for rounding the ends of brush fibers made of thermoplastic material includes a system for moving a smooth treatment surface relative to brush fiber ends at a relative speed and for a selected time to cause the brush fiber ends to be heated to their plastic deformation temperature to cause the brush fiber ends to become rounded. The treatment surface includes at least a portion which has substantially no abrasion, grinding or impacting properties relative to the brush fibers but only substantially friction heating properties relative to the fibers. A method for rounding brush fiber ends is described using the described apparatus.

Abstract: The brush manufacturing machine of the type wherein at least one rotary brush body carrying drum located at a machine workstation is cyclically supplied with empty brush bodies by a brush body feeding device and is cyclically rotated to cause each such brush body to be eventually presented in proper position before a filling tool for filling of the brush body with brush fibers, wherein the machine includes at least two drums located at sequential workstations, at least one filling tool at each workstation cooperating with each respective drum for delivering brush fibers to the brush bodies carried by the drums, at least one manipulator operable so as to periodically engage and transfer brush bodies from at least one drum to another drum following the one drum, and a transport device for carrying filled brush bodies away from a drum of the machine.

Abstract: A device for rounding the ends of the fibres of brushes (1), in particular fibres which are made of synthetic material, contains a first support (5) which can be moved in a direction in relation to a brush (1); a second support (4) which is mounted, rotatable around an axis (10) which is at right angles to this direction, on the first support (5); a first drive assembly (15) to rotate this second support (4); a grinding surface (3) which is mounted in a moveable manner on the second support (4) and against which the fibres are provided; and a second drive arrangement (12) to move this grinding surface (3). The grinding surface (3) is at least part of the jacket of a cylinder (2) whose axis (11) is directed crosswise to the axis (10) around which the second support (4) rotates in relation to the first support (5).

Abstract: A method for manufacturing brushes, whereby brush bodies (2) which are provided with openings (12) according to a specific hole pattern are supplied to a filling station (6), whereat bundles of fibres (7) are supplied to the openings (12) at this filling station (6). Each brush body (2) is successively presented to at least two filling tools (13-14) at each filling station (6), whereby each filling tool (13-14) fills the entire hole pattern with bundles of fibres (7) in different steps, and whereby at each step, each of the filling tools (13-14) fills the same part (A-B) of said hole pattern in different brush bodies (2).

Abstract: Method for manufacturing brushes of the type whereby use is made of a boring tool (2) and a filling tool (5), for making openings (3) in brush bodies (4) and providing brush bristles (6) in these openings respectively, characterized in that a circuit is provided to this end in which at least three brush body holders (11, 12, 13) are used, of which each time two holders present two brush bodies (4) to the boring tool (2) and the filling tool (5) respectively during a work cycle, whereas the other brush body holder carries off a filled brush body (4) and/or supplies an empty brush body (4), and in that the three brush body holders (11, 12, 13) are automatically carried to the next work station according to a closed circuit at the end of each work cycle.

Abstract: Improved device for the supply of fibers to a filling machine of a brush manufacturing machine of the type which mainly consists in a drawer (4) movable between a fixed multiple fiber container (1) and a pick-up device (5), in which this drawer (4) consists in a number of relatively small loading spaces (2,3), which act as locks for the moving of the fibers (6, 7, 14, 15) out of the fiber channels (8, 9) of aforementioned fiber container (1) to the cluster pick-up device (5), characterized in that the loading spaces (2, 3) are of such shape that regardless of their position a connection remains with the subject fiber channel (8), respectively (9).

Abstract: An apparatus for positioning or holding a brush body for insertion of bundles of bristles is provided. The apparatus comprises a carrier movable relative to a fixed guide and having a pivotable brush body holding mounted to it. A follower slidably mounted on the carrier is biased to follow the fixed guide as the carrier moves. A pivotal connection between the follower and the holder causes the holder to pivot as the follower follows the fixed guide. Use of a specifically contoured fixed guide permits corresponding pivoting of the holder so that the brush body can be variably aligned to accommodate a range of bristle inserters.
