  • Patent number: 6609857
Abstract: A method for mixing a pulverulent material in a main gas flow with a view to achieving uniform distribution of the pulverulent material. The turbulence in the main gas flow is increased in a vortex-generating zone. The pulverulent material is introduced into the main gas flow, in a mixing zone, with a carrier gas flow whose net motion during introduction is essentially opposite to the main gas flow. The mixing zone is positioned downstream of the vortex-generating zone and in the vicinity thereof. The carrier gas flow with the pulverulent material is in a rotational zone given a helical motion, whose axis of symmetry is essentially parallel with the direction of flow of the main gas flow, and is introduced into the mixing zone in the form of a divergent hollow cone. A device for carrying out the method comprises a gas duct (1) for the main gas flow with vortex-generating means (4) and an introducing means (11) for introduction of pulverulent material in dispersed state into a carrier gas flow.

  • Patent number: 5470200
Abstract: A guide vane arrangement for axial fans, intended to translate the rotational component of the gas flow velocity after passage through the impeller (1) into a substantially axial velocity, including a ring (2) of guide vanes disposed downstream of the fan and in spaced relationship therewith. Alternate guide vanes are axially displaced with respect to the remaining ones, so that alternate guide vanes are at a first axial distance from the fan and the remainder are at a second axial distance from the fan. As an alternative, alternate guide vanes have a portion of the end part facing towards the fan removed, so that the forward edge of alternate guide vanes is at a first distance from the fan and the remaining guide vanes are at a second axial distance, and the guide vanes are non-uniformly distributed along the periphery of the ring.

  • Patent number: 5264014
Abstract: An arrangement for cleaning ventilation air coming from a paint spray booth and polluted with paint particles is provided with a liquid flow for separating part of the paint particles from the ventilation air and a wet electrostatic precipitator for separating any remaining paint particles and liquid droplets from the ventilation air. The electrostatic precipitator is located in an enclosure underneath the floor of the spray booth, with a surface of the enclosure being poured over with the liquid flow to remove part of the paint particles. The enclosure is further designed so that the ventilation air from the spray booth is caused to be deflected through an angle of 10.degree.-170.degree. in relation to the substantially vertical direction of flow through the spray booth before passing through the liquid flow and into the electrostatic precipitator.

  • Patent number: 5217504
Abstract: In a method for controlling the current pulse supply to the discharge electrodes of an electrostatic precipitator unit in order to achieve maximum separation of dust from gases conducted between the discharge electrodes and the collecting electrodes of the unit at issue, current pulses (I) with a given pulse current are supplied to the discharge electrodes. The pulse frequency is varied, and instantaneous values (U.sub.p, U(I=O), U(I=O+1.6)) corresponding to one another, for the voltage (U) between the discharge electrodes and the collecting electrodes are measured for a number of pulse frequencies. Then, the current pulse supply to the discharge electrodes is set to the pulse frequency at which the highest instantaneous value has been measured.

  • Patent number: 4776263
Abstract: A device for a suspended ceiling structure (1) for rectangular filter elements (2, 3). Some filter elements are located at a distance from each other to allow the suspension of light fittings from the suspended ceiling structure. An air stream is forced to flow out from the filter elements in the direction downwards towards the floor and vanes (8, 9) are then arranged substantially at the same level as and adjacent to at least one of those lateral surfaces of the fitting, which face the filter elements. The vanes are arranged at an angle to the air stream in such a way that the air is deflected and is made to flow towards a region (10) immediately below the light fitting.

  • Patent number: 4698077
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for the separation of edge trimmings, in connection with a pulper. The upper portion of the jacket of the pulper (1) serves as a jacket of a first cyclone (5), a second cyclone (8) opposite in direction being provided within said cyclone (5). When the air flow enters the second cyclone and the direction thereof is reversed, it is essentially retarded, whereby also light paper particles fall into the stock contained in the pulper. The object is to provide an efficient device for the separation of edge trimmings, which device does not spread dust in the surroundings.

  • Patent number: 4683699
Abstract: The invention relates to a suspended ceiling structure for rectangular filter elements (12,13), comprising a framework with outer (1) and inner (2) U-shaped channels which slidingly fit together and are suspended on tie rods (9) in an upper ceiling. The channels are intended to support skirts (14,15) arranged along the edges of the filter elements, said skirts being received in a sealing fluid (16) which forms an airtight seal for the air which is under the filter elements and is intended to flow through the same. The U-shaped channels are provided with grooves (3,4) at their web portions, the grooves being turned outwards and intended to form attachments for the ceiling tie rods and for elements (24) to be suspended from the framework. The ends (5,6) of each outer channel (1) are bent inwards to retain the inner channel (2) between the shanks and to prevent its withdrawal in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction of the channels.

  • Patent number: 4625434
Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement in cylinder drying, intended for incorporation in a paper machine and including a plurality of heated cylinders (1) arranged substantially parallel in two rows, about which the paper web (2) is taken serpentine during drying, whereat it is carried by an endless porous fourdrinier wire (3) which presses the web against the cylinder surfaces in one row of cylinders and lies between the paper web and the cylinders in the other row. For preventing the web from lifting from the wire as a result of pressure differences on either side thereof, there are blowing boxes (11,12) arranged for blowing out air in at least some of the pockets (4,5) situated on opposite sides of the web, each of said pockets being formed by the web and three cylinders lying consecutively in the travelling direction of the web.

  • Patent number: 4606259
Abstract: An air curtain (1) established in a free air space (2) by allowing partly a first air current to pass one or a plurality of nozzles and to form one or a plurality of directed narrow air jets and partly a second air current by means of co-ejection to form a surface layer for the air curtain facing towards the free air space or space. Means (6) are provided to be able to form an air circulation in the air space in a direction counter to that of the air circulation (24, 25) which the surface layer for the air curtain tends to give the air in the air space (2). The free air space can be limited by ceiling, floor and walls in the machine hall, where one or several machines (22, 23) or other devices during operation emit air with high humidity and high temperature. In such an application the air curtain is established from the ceiling and directed downwards to act adjacent to the machines (22, 23). The second air current is wholly or partly extracted from available inter-roof air (12 ) and/or available outdoor air.

  • Patent number: 4582515
Abstract: A wet separator for purifying polluted conditioning air and separating solid and semi-liquid particles therefrom, especially paint particles in the outlet of a spray painting booth. For this purpose, there is a series of outlets with surfaces converging in the direction of flow into a neck or throat which increases the speed of passing media and thus achieves mixing of air, water and pollutants. According to the invention, beyond the first outlet in the direction of flow there is a dispersing chamber for further mixing and atomizing the mixture, which chamber terminates in the direction of flow in the second outlet, which is designed as a venturi with a more extensively throttled venturi opening defined by a flange extending into said opening. The outlets may be interconnected by a guiding surface, on which a dispersing stream of water droplets, air and pollutions impinge with a flat angle of impact adjacent to the second outlet at the lower end of the guiding surface.
