Patent number: 10755720Abstract: A multi-channel audio decoder for providing at least two output audio signals on the basis of an encoded representation is configured to perform a weighted combination of a downmix signal, a decorrelated signal and a residual signal, to obtain one of the output audio signals. The multi-channel audio decoder is configured to determine a weight describing a contribution of the decorrelated signal in the weighted combination in dependence on the residual signal. A multi-channel audio encoder for providing an encoded representation of a multi-channel audio signal is configured to obtain a downmix signal on the basis of the multi-channel audio signal, to provide parameters describing dependencies between the channels of the multi-channel audio signal, and to provide a residual signal. The multi-channel audio encoder is configured to vary an amount of residual signal included into the encoded representation in dependence on the multi-channel audio signal.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2017Date of Patent: August 25, 2020Assignee: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Foerderung der angwandten Forschung e.V.Inventors: Sascha Dick, Christian Helmrich, Johannes Hilpert, Andreas Hoelzer

Patent number: 8364247Abstract: The invention relates to methods for determining the sex of birds' eggs. It can be used for an early determination of the sex, in particular in poultry farming, and in this respect also with non-incubated eggs. In the method in accordance with the invention, electromagnetic radiation is emitted onto the blastodisk of an egg by a radiation source and, after a switching off of the radiation source, the decay behavior of the autofluorescence intensity excited by the electromagnetic radiation is detected by a detector at the irradiated region of the blastodisk with time resolution and spectral resolution for at least one wavelength of the autofluorescence. The fractal dimension DF is calculated using the determined measured intensity values and the value of the fractal dimension DF is compared with a species-specific and sex-specific limit value, wherein, when the limit value is exceeded, the respective egg is classified as female and, when it is not reached, the egg is classified as male.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2010Date of Patent: January 29, 2013Assignee: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Foerderung der Angwandten Forschung E.V.Inventors: Joerg Opitz, Bjoern Fischer, Petra Morgenstern, Juergen Schreiber, Carola Gerich

Publication number: 20090312819Abstract: A device for analyzing an audio signal to obtain an analysis representation of the audio signal includes a converter for converting the audio signal into a representation representing a neurotransmitter vesicle occurrence in clefts between a plurality of nerve fibers and inner auditory cells of an ear model, and a calculator for calculating a neural activity pattern over time on the plurality of nerve fibers, which results based on the neurotransmitter vesicle occurrence, wherein the neural activity pattern is an analysis representation of the audio signal. The inventive device thus generates an especially suitable analysis representation of an audio signal in which masking effects occurring in the generation of action potentials on nerve fibers are considered. The inventive analysis representation is also suitable for an examination of the audio content and also for controlling cochlea implants.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 10, 2006Publication date: December 17, 2009Applicant: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Foerderung der angwandten Forschung e.V.Inventors: Frank Klefenz, András Kátai, Gero Szepannek, Tamás Harczos

Patent number: 7526968Abstract: A device is disclosed for pipetting a liquid, comprising a pipette body enclosing a pipette volume, into which a fluid medium can be placed and in which an actuator that controllably displaces the medium in the pipette volume is provided, as well as a pipette tip, which can be connected to the pipette volume in a fluid-tight manner. The present invention is distinguished by the pipette volume and the pipette tip being connected via a fluid-tight connecting means directly or indirectly to each other in such a manner that the pipette tip is moveable relative to the pipette volume.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2002Date of Patent: May 5, 2009Assignee: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Angwandten Forschung E.V.Inventor: Thomas Lisec

Patent number: 6676896Abstract: The invention relates to a method of a composite material from superposed layers of solid and frothable metallic materials. The structural component consists of at least one layer of a solid metallic material and at least one layer of frothable metallic material. The structural component may be structured as a composite sheet or as a hollow body. The fabrication method of the structural component insures a good bond between the solid metallic layer and the frothable layer and that the frothable layer is securely attached to the solid metallic layer.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2001Date of Patent: January 13, 2004Assignee: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Foerderung der angwandten Forschung e.V.Inventor: Joachim Baumeister

Patent number: 6284639Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of forming a structured metallization on a semiconductor wafer, wherein a main surface of the wafer has a passivation layer applied thereto, which is structured so as to determine at least one bond pad. Initially, a metal bump is produced on the at least one bond pad. An activated dielectric is then produced on the areas of the passivation layer on which the structured metallization is to be formed. Finally, metal is chemically deposited directly on the activated dielectric and on the metal bump in such a way that the structured metallization formed on the activated dielectric and the metal chemically deposited on the metal bump are electro-conductively joined.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 1999Date of Patent: September 4, 2001Assignee: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Foerderung der Angwandten Forschung E.V.Inventors: Rolf Aschenbrenner, Ghassem Azdasht, Elke Zakel, Andreas Ostmann, Gerald Motulla
