    Abstract: A method, computer program, and apparatus for decoding a predetermined block of a picture using intra-prediction by reading, for each of predetermined intra-prediction blocks, from a data stream, a mode index identifying a matrix-based intra-prediction mode. Samples of each predetermined intra-prediction block are predicted by computing a matrix-vector product between an input vector derived from reference samples and a prediction matrix associated with the identified matrix-based intra-prediction mode (k) and associating components of an output vector obtained by the matrix-vector product onto sample positions of the predetermined block. Further predetermined intra-predicted blocks of the picture are predicted to obtain a prediction signal. A transformation flag is decoded from the data stream using context adaptive binary arithmetic coding, and a prediction residual is decoded and re-transformed using a reverse transformation based on the transformation flag to obtain a prediction residual signal.

    Abstract: A method for fixing a material block to a machining device for mechanically machining the material block, in particular to a wire saw for cutting the material block into individual wafers. In the method, the material block is adhesively bonded to an expendable workpiece carrier, and the workpiece carrier is connected to the machining device. For this purpose, the expendable workpiece carrier is provided on at least one surface with an already pre-applied layer of an adhesive that can be activated only by an external influence. The material block is then adhesively bonded to the workpiece carrier by corresponding activation of the adhesive. The method dispenses with complex steps for mixing and applying a two-component adhesive before performing machining as well as with the industrial robots used until now for this purpose. The method therefore saves time and costs in the machining process, in particular in the production of wafers.

The surface region of the component is coated inside a vacuum chamber, by focused electron beam(s) with a first surface energy, which brings about melting of the component material within the surface region. Before melting, the surface region is passed over at least twice by the electron beam, each time with a different focal length of the electron beam. A second surface energy is set for the electron beam, such that no melting of the component material is brought about in the surface region. Data is recorded by a number of sensors arranged inside the vacuum chamber. An actual value for the roughness is compared to a set point value. If the actual value has not reached the set point value, a value for the first surface energy is determined via comparison.
