Patents Assigned to G.A.O. Gesellschaft fur Automation und Organisation m.b.H.
  • Patent number: 4068385
Abstract: The apparatus comprises a roll, having an elastic surface, mounted for rotation about a fixed axis with the elastic surface arranged to engage one surface of a record carrier. A piezoelectric transducer is mounted perpendicular to the axis of the roll and rigidly with respect to the roll, and a sensor is mounted quasi-rigidly, with respect to the transducer, between the roll and the transducer, the sensor being fixedly joined to the transducer. In the quiescent condition, without a record carrier being passed between the sensor and the roll, the distance from the roll surface to the sensor is smaller than the smallest paper thickness to be measured. The transducer is mounted in a holder having a spring member fixedly joining the sensor to the transducer. The sensor may include a sensing roll or may be designed as a sensing runner with a sharp edge, and an elastic damping plate connects the transducer to the sensor.

  • Patent number: 3976291
Abstract: In the arrangement, a batch or stack of vertically oriented recording media sheets is supported on edge on a horizontal vibrating table which is vibrated by a vibrating conveyor and the sheets are advanced singly, starting with the leading or frontmost sheet, through a separating slot between a pair of endless belts constituting a transporting arrangement. A first rotating suction drum is mounted at the rear end of the vibrating table and is formed with circumferentially spaced suction bores for operative relation with a rotary slide valve to connect the suction bores intermittently to a suction system. A second rotating suction drum is arranged within the range of the separating slot and serves as a separating drum, and a hold-back suction drum is also arranged within the range of the separating slot and serves as a hold-back device, the hold-back suction drum having the same design as the first rotating suction drum.

  • Patent number: 3974379
Abstract: The pulse generator comprises a rotating transparent disc having a line pattern along its circumference and which is moved past an equally spaced line pattern of a fixed disc segment. The line patterns are scanned photoelectrically and the light-dark changes are converted into corresponding electrical pulses. The rotating disc and the disc segment are formed of thin plastic sheeting, and the rotating disc has two metal discs secured to respective opposite sides thereof out of the area of the line pattern thereon. One of these discs is formed with a peripheral groove into which the disc segment, which is fixed to a base, extends and bears against the rotating disc. The line patterns are provided on the outer surfaces of the disc and disc segments, whose inner surfaces are in surface-to-surface engagement to slide on each other in the area of the patterns under a slight pressure.

  • Patent number: 3967400
Abstract: The card has means for protection against forgery and unauthorized use, and comprises a laminated structure consisting of an outer base layer, an intermediate layer and an outer cover layer. The base layer is a supporting layer of relatively thick transparent foil material providing the necessary durability, rigidity and a portion of the desired thickness of the card. The intermediate layer comprises special paper having zones of respectively different thickness distributed therein and discernable by visual and tactile inspection, and containing security and authenticity features such as water marks, colored threads and the like. The outer cover layer is a covering of transparent material sufficiently thin to conform to the different thicknesses of the intermediate layer, whereby the different thicknesses are accurately reproduced in the outer surface of the outer cover layer. The security and authenticity features may be embedded in the thickened portions of the intermediate layer.

  • Patent number: 3946869
Abstract: A package comprises a relatively stiff rectangular backing board with a transparent substantially rectangular bag of a smaller size secured to the backing board along a small marginal area adjacent its top edge. The backing board advantageously includes a fold down top edge or collar which engages over an upwardly extending portion of the underside of the bag and the bottom edge of the collar is spaced from the opening edge on the top side of the bag and the bag may be torn off the backing board by tearing it along the lower edge of the collar. The backing board advantageously includes one or more recesses which are engageable by a driver member to move the package assembly.
