  • Publication number: 20220274275
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a cutter bar for chopping machines. The cutter bar includes a cutter bar body that defines an edge groove. The edge groove includes a groove bottom and a groove sidewall. The groove sidewall is formed by the material of the cutter bar body. A wear protection structure extends along a surface of the cutter bar body from the edge groove. The wear protection structure is built up on the surface of the cutter bar body as an additively manufactured metal powder application layer. At least one carbide strip is secured to the edge groove and forms the cutting edge. The carbide strip can be fastened to the edge groove by means of a bonding agent, such as solder or adhesive.

  • Publication number: 20220087109
Abstract: A cutting element, in particular for abrasive cut material, is provided that includes a substrate that defines at least one cutting wedge which is formed by first and second wedge surfaces that intersect along a wedge edge. A cutting layer that extends over the first wedge surface and defines a cutting edge which lies on the wedge edge when new. The wear resistance of the cutting layer is greater than wear resistance of the substrate. The cutting layer is configured to define a blade-shaped protrusion that projects beyond the wedge edge due to wear of the substrate in the area of the second wedge surface to provide a self-resharpening cutting edge. The cutting layer or part thereof is formed by means of melt-metallurgical modification of an edge zone of the substrate by in-situ precipitation of finely dispersed inherent hard phases from partial melting of the edge zone of the substrate.

  • Patent number: 11058061
Abstract: A conveying and conditioning roller for a harvesting machine is provided on the surface thereof with teeth in the form of toothed strips which extend over the longitudinal extent of the roller and in each case have a leading tooth flank and a trailing tooth flank as well as a tooth edge. The roller is provided with wear protection zones continuously or in partial regions, the wear resistance thereof being greater than that of the material of the base body of the roller. The base body has a tooth structure determining the shape of the teeth and tooth wear protection zones are formed on the trailing tooth flanks by a high energy radiation process, substantially maintaining the geometry of the tooth structure, roller wear protection zones being formed together thereby on the rollers, as well as a method for producing such a roller wear protection zone.

  • Patent number: 10668547
Abstract: A saw blade for cutting stalk crops, such as for example maize or millet, has a planar flank and a facet flank and a sawing edge with a succession of saw teeth. The saw teeth are provided with a wear protection zone, the wear resistance of which is greater than that of a material of the base body of the saw blade. The wear protection zone is respectively located on the planar flank of each saw tooth. The saw teeth in the region of the tooth face have a cutting facet, starting from the facet flank. The cutting facet is configured at a distance from the planar flank of the saw tooth to form a blunt tooth cutting edge and, in a preferred embodiment, the cutting facet and the facet flank are configured without a wear protection zone.

  • Patent number: 10091938
Abstract: A toothed crushing disk for a grain processor includes teeth having a trailing tooth flank, which is a so-called tooth back, and a leading tooth flank, which is a so-called tooth face, on the surface of the teeth. The teeth have a wear protection zone in the region of the tooth back which is continuous or is divided into partial zones and has a wear resistance which is greater than that of the material of a base member of the toothed crushing disk. The base member has a tooth structure which determines the shape of the teeth and the wear protection zone is produced by using a high-energy beam method with the geometry of the tooth structure being substantially maintained. A method for producing a toothed crushing disk for a grain processor having teeth on the surface thereof is also provided.

  • Patent number: 9894833
Abstract: A cutter bar has a cutter body with a substantially rectangular cross section formed by an upper face, two side faces and a lower face. The upper face together with at least one side face defines a cutting edge, which is formed by one or more hard metal profile strips fastened in a groove in the cutter body. The wall of the groove which adjoins the upper face of the cutter body encloses with the upper face of the cutter body an angle less than 90°, preferably 89 to 15°, particularly preferably 80 to 40°. The wall of the groove which adjoins the lateral face of the cutter body encloses with the lateral face of the cutter body an angle less than 90°, preferably 89 to 15°, particularly preferably 80 to 40°. The hard metal profile strip or hard metal profile strips is or are positively inserted in the groove.
