  • Patent number: 5257447
Abstract: An apparatus for carrying out a method for inserting a slide (3) into a slide frame (10) is provided with a pusher (12) reciprocally guided in the plane (21) of the slide frame (10), a guideway (24) for the slide (3) and a knife (4) for cutting off the slide (3). For providing an apparatus of said kind of a simpler design and a faster operation, the guiding path (24) for the slide (3) extends in the plane (21) of the frame (10). The knife (4) is arranged above the plane (21) of the frame (10). By a flap (17) pivotable around a horizontal axis (19) the slide (3) can be moved completely into the plane (21) of the frame (10) after cutting (FIG. 3).

  • Patent number: 5181367
Abstract: A method for inserting slide frames (17, 21) or film strips in the pockets (10) of a two-layer film jacket (2) which is open on one side (14). The pockets (10) are partitioned from each other by transverse seams (6), preferably transverse weld seams. One or several slide frames (17, 21) are successively inserted into a pocket (10), or a film strip is inserted into a pocket (10). The film jacket (2) is then transported in the longitudinal direction (12) of the film to the next pocket (10) to be filled. In order to simplify such a method, during the further transport of the film jacket (2) for the positioning of the next pocket (10) to be filled, the position of the next transverse seam (6) is detected by a feeler (1) which is moved in between the film layers (11, 13) at the open side (14) of the film jacket (2). The feeler (1) is movable in longitudinal direction in a direction (18) parallel to the transverse weld seams (6) and is provided with a wedge surface (19) at its end moving into the film (2).

  • Patent number: 4995221
Abstract: A film jacket (1) for flat articles, particularly slide frames (5, 6, 7, 8), that consists of bottom and top plies (2, 3; 103), which are joined at one end and on both sides so that they can accommodate the slide frames. To permit the film jacket to be filled quickly and in a simple manner and to permit the slide frames to be individually taken, one film ply (3; 103) is formed with a transversely extending slit (15, 16, 17; 115, 116, 117) which is spaced from the closed end (4; 104) of the jacket by a distance (l) that corresponds to the length of one slide frame.

  • Patent number: 4738040
Abstract: The slide frame is made of elastic plastic and has an entrance slit which is adapted to be expanded throughout the width of the transparency to be inserted. The frame is formed at its opposite end with an additional expansible slit, which is also adapted to be expanded throughout the width of the transparency to be inserted and to such an extent that the two frame portions defining said additional slit do not obstruct the complete insertion of the transparency into the frame, and the film bed is constricted by a clamping rib, which is formed at and extends along a picture gate defining edge which extends at right angles to the direction in which the transparency is inserted into the frame. The slide frame comprises two frame members having broadsides facing each other.

  • Patent number: 4685785
Abstract: A integral plastic frame for holding a film slide includes a central window, a recessed bearing surface, which surrounds the window and serves to contact the film slide when it has been inserted to cover the window. The transparency as it is inserted and in its final position is guided between the bearing surface and the retaining elements facing the bearing surface. The retaining elements substantially consist of continuous retaining strips, which extend in the direction in which the film slide is inserted. The retaining strips are attached to mutually opposite sides of a central window of the integral frame member by means of narrow connecting webs, which extend at right angles to the direction in which the film slide is inserted. The plastic material of the frame member is so elastically flexible that an opening through which the film slide can be inserted is formed between the retaining strip and the bearing surface.

  • Patent number: 4678525
Abstract: A process of manufacturing slide frames is disclosed, which are preferably adapted to be elastically expanded and are made from at least one extruded plastic sheet plastic web. Plastic web portions are adhesively joined or joined by ultrasonic welding to form a frame and picture gates and punching operations are performed to form picture gates in the frame and to form the external contour of the frame. A film bed which serves to receive a slide and is preferably peripherally closed is formed by embossing.

  • Patent number: 4673815
Abstract: A method of automatically detecting the locations of the frame lines of a reversal film as it is supplied to a processing station, such as a cutting and mounting station, a notching station or the like, so that the frame lines can be used as reference marks for the positioning of the film in the processing station wherein the film is moved past optoelectronic scanner in steps which amount to only a fractional part of the normal width of a frame line. The scanner generates an analog voltage which represents the accumulated light transmission of the film in a scanned area, which extends at right angles to the direction of travel of the film substantially across the picture area of the film and has a width which is only a fractional part of a normal width of a frame line. The extreme value of the voltage obtained during a scanning of at least one normal frame length and corresponding to the lowest light transmission is evaluated as a representation of the light transmission of the scanned film at a frame line.

  • Patent number: 4612754
Abstract: A method of inserting a slide into a frame of elastic plastic, including expanding the frame at two opposite edges. Inserting of the slide and/or the fixing of the slide in position relative to the picture gate is facilitated in that the frame is expanded at both of two opposed edges as the slide is inserted. The slide which has been inserted to its position for projection is fixed with utilization of the elasticity of the plastic in that the expanding of the frame is terminated.

  • Patent number: 4603539
Abstract: Methods are proposed for automatically framing slides in a framing apparatus, wherein the slides are subjected at a framing station at the leading end of the slide film passing through the framing apparatus to a framing cycle which comprises individual severing together with introduction in a ready-positioned frame and subsequent transmission of the framed slide to a storage box. One of the disclosed methods is conducted with the aid of marginal notches applied to the slide film by a preceding automatic notcher as a positional criterion for the slides and the other is conducted without regard to such notches. Both methods provide for scanning the spacer strips between slides by means of a scanning apparatus and special evaluation of the information thus obtained, possibly having regard to the notch spacing, in a manner such that a destruction of slides by wrong cuts is avoided.

  • Patent number: 4528795
Abstract: This invention relates to a device for expanding the entrance slot of a plastic slide frame having at least one resiliently expandable entrance slot, which device comprises two noses, which are arranged to engage the top surfaces of frame edge portions disposed laterally of the entrance path for the slide, and a ramp, which is spaced from said noses. In order to permit such a device to be operated without a need for a special protection against fingerprints, the device comprises a feeding pusher for pushing the slide through the expanded entrance slot.
