Abstract: The present invention involves the identification and preparation of vascular endothelial growth factor-E (VEGF-E). VEGF-E is a novel polypeptide related to vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and bone morphogenetic protein 1. VEGF-E has homology to VEGF including conservation of the amino acids required for activity of VEGF. VEGF-E can be useful in wound repair, as well as in the generation and regeneration of tissue.

Abstract: Methods and assays examining expression of one or more biomarkers in a mammalian tissue or cell sample are provided. According to the disclosed methods and assays, detection of the expression of GalNac-T related molecules, such as GalNac-T14 or GalNac-T3, is predictive or indicative that the tissue or cell sample will be sensitive to apoptosis-inducing agents such as Apo2L/TRAIL and anti-DR5 agonist antibodies. Kits and articles of manufacture are also provided.
Abstract: Methods and assays examining expression of one or more biomarkers in a sample are provided for predicting or indicating the effectiveness of treatment of a rheumatoid arthritis patient with a B-cell antagonist. Methods are provided for identifying patients whose rheumatoid arthritis is likely to be responsive to B-cell-antagonist, anti-rheumatoid arthritis therapy. Methods for treating such patients with B-cell antagonists that incorporate the above methodology are also provided. Further provided are kits and articles of manufacture useful for such methods.

Abstract: A method for selecting patients for therapy with a HER inhibitor, such as pertuzumab, based on gene expression analysis is described. A method for assessing HER phosphorylation or activation in a biological sample via gene expression analysis is also described.
Abstract: This invention relates to methods of analyzing a tissue sample from a subject. In particular, the invention combines morphological staining and/or immunohistochemistry (IHC) with fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) within the same section of a tissue sample. The analysis can be automated or manual. The invention also relates to kits for use in the above methods.
