  • Patent number: 7821265
Abstract: A method for acquiring magnetic resonance (MR) data for a pulse sequence with periodic signal modulation and a set of views having at least two phase encode directions includes selecting a direction of modulation. Each view in the set of views is assigned a readout number based on a position of each view along the direction of modulation resulting in a plurality of readout number groups, each readout number group having a plurality of views. Each view within each readout number group is assigned a train number based on a position of each view along a second direction in k-space. MR data for the set of views is acquired based on the assigned readout number and train number for each view.

  • Patent number: 7667457
Abstract: A gamma ray detector ring for a combined positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system is integrated into a radio frequency (RF) coil assembly such that the detector ring is integrated with a RF shield. Each gamma ray detector in the detector ring includes a scintillator component that emits light when a gamma ray is detected and a photodetector component designed to be sensitive to the frequency of light produced by the scintillator. A RF shield may be integrated into a detector ring such that the RF shield is positioned between the scintillator and photodetector components of each detector, thereby saving valuable radial space within the imaging system. Multiple such detector rings may be located adjacent to one another to increase axial coverage and enable three-dimensional PET imaging techniques.

  • Patent number: 7664459
Abstract: A distributed power train (10) communications system for sending and receiving signals between a lead locomotive (14) and remote locomotives (12A/12B/12C) in the train (10). A lead (14) initiated message is received by at least the remote locomotive (12A/12B) nearest to the lead unit (14). The receiving remote unit (12A/12B) retransmits the message for receiving by the next remote unit (12C) in the train. Thus the message leapfrogs down the train from the lead unit (14) to the remote units (12A/12B/12C). When the last remote unit (the nth remote unit) (12C) receives the message, the last remote (12C) transmits a status or other response message to the lead unit's message. The status message is received at the (n-1)th remote unit (12A/12B), which appends its status message and transmits the combined status messages toward the lead unit (14).
