Abstract: An electric can opener comprises an upper opening portion and lower base portion. The upper opening portion and the lower base portion are selectively attachable to and separable from each other. The upper opening portion and the lower base portion are operable as an upright countertop can opener when attached, and the upper cutting portion is operable as a walk-and-cut can opener when separated from the lower base portion.

Abstract: A beverage maker includes a body and a cover movably attached to the body. The body includes therein (among other components), a hot liquid generator (HLG) having a tank, an inlet for receiving liquid into the tank and an outlet, at least one heater in thermal communication with the liquid in the HLG tank, and a discharge port in fluid communication with the outlet of the HLG for discharge of the liquid. The cover is movably attached to the body between a closed position and an open position. At least one valve permits the discharge of the liquid via the discharge port in a closed position of the cover. The at least one valve is mechanically actuated by the cover in the open position of the cover to substantially prevent the discharge of the liquid via the discharge port.

Abstract: A blender includes: a base unit, the base unit including a vent in fluid communication with external air; a motor mounted within the base unit and configured to drive blender blades; a cooling fan mounted in the base unit to draw air though the vent and past the motor; and a conduit formed within the base unit that provides an exit path for air drawn past the motor by the fan. The conduit follows a path that serially includes a reservoir beneath the fan, a first choke point, a first chamber, a second choke point, a second chamber, a third choke point, and a third chamber in fluid communication with an exit port at the rear of the base unit.

Abstract: A kitchen appliance for preparing beverage comprises a housing, a basket holder in cooperative engagement with the housing, a filter basket selectively insertable into the basket holder when the basket holder is in an open position, and a ground coffee hopper for holding ground coffee. The hopper is positioned to dispense a desired amount of ground coffee into the filter basket when (i) the hopper is selectively mounted to the housing, (ii) the filter basket is inserted into the basket holder, and (iii) the basket holder is in its closed position. The bottom portion comprises a selectively rotatable doser defining a plurality of dosing cavities. Each dosing cavity is adapted to contain a same, predetermined amount of ground coffee and adapted to dispense the contained ground coffee through a dispensing hole defined in the bottom portion as each dosing cavity is rotated into a position above the dispensing hole.
