Abstract: A phase difference comparison type of ultrasonic velocity meter repeatingly transmitting acoustic waves in the form of pulses at alternate time intervals: T-T.sub.S and T+T.sub.S, receiving reflected waves generated by the transmission of these waves and reflected on an object, forming first and second mixed waves by mixing the reception signal obtained from the reflected waves with two reference waves having phases shifted 90 degrees from each other, detecting the phase difference between the present vectors representing the first and second mixed waves and similar vectors which have been obtained with respect to the preceding pulse transmission, detecting the phase difference Q between the phase difference caused in relation to the time interval T-T.sub.S and the phase difference caused in relation to the time interval T+T.sub.S with respect to a phase difference obtained each time a pulse is transmitted, and calculating the Droppler shift angle frequency .omega.d from .omega.d=Q/2T.sub.S.
Abstract: An ultrasonic diagnosis apparatus comprises a probe for transmitting an ultrasonic beam toward a body having a blood vessel therein and a plurality of receiver circuits corresponding to sampling points of the body in a direction approximately perpendicular to the beam to produce respective intensities of reflected waves from the sampling points. A distribution of the reflected-wave intensities from the receiver circuits is measured at a predetermined interval of time. A shift between two successive intensity distributions thus measured is detected by a correlator, thereby determining a blood flow speed, in the blood vessel of the body, in the direction approximately perpendicular to the beam.
Abstract: An ultrasonic diagnosis apparatus comprises a probe means for transmitting an ultrasonic pulse beam toward an internal moving part of a living body and receiving the reflected wave therefrom, and a plurality of phasing circuits for simultaneously receiving and phasing the received signal in parallel in a plurality of channels. The received signals of plural channels are mixed with a set of complex reference signals having a complex relation therebetween, thereby converting the received signals into complex signals. Autocorrelators delay the complex signals computes the autocorrelation of the complex signals. Speed operators compute the speed of the internal moving part of the basis of the computed autocorrelation. The result of measurement of the distribution of the speed of the internal moving part is displayed on a display unit.

Abstract: In medical image treating systems, especially when an X-ray image intensifier and TV camera are used, video signals composed of available video signals containing specified image information and unavailable video signals containing no such image information are output from the TV camera. Only the digital video signals of the converted digital video signals corresponding to the available video signals are treated and the digital video signals after treatment are recorded and reproduced with a recording device.
Abstract: A radiation detector comprises a scintillator capable of emitting light by radiation and a photodetector for detecting the light emitted from the scintillator, the scintillator being composed of a sintered body prepared by sintering rare earth oxysulfide as a body starting material containing a densification additive by hot isostactic pressing. The sintered body has a high light output and a high density.

Abstract: A method of converting a digital video signal including first words each being composed of N.sub.1 bits into a digital video signal which consists of second words each being composed of N.sub.2 bits (N.sub.2 <N.sub.1) by separating each of the first words into a first portion which consists of the N.sub.2 bits including a most significant bit and a second portion which consists of the remaining (N.sub.1 -N.sub.2) bits including a least significant bit, and storing the first portions of the first words and the second portions. Third words each of which consists of N.sub.2 bits are then composed by sequentially arranging the second portions. A first group of words which represent converted digital image signal are composed by first portions, and a second group of words are composed by sequentially linking the third words. Each scanning line of a converted digital video signal is then composed by the second group of words sequentially arranged before or after the first group of words.

Abstract: Digital filters can be very effectively used for filtration of two-dimensional image. A special one of the digital filters operates to add together all data over a filter length, multiply the addition result by a predetermined set value, and to effect addition or subtraction between the multiplication result and data at a point of interest to be filtered. In case of the addition, the filter works as a low-pass filter. In case of the subtraction, the filter provides for a high-pass filtration. Such digital filter has such a problem that the number of additions is increased as the filter length is larger. Therefore, it is essential in the digital filters to reduce the necessary number of additions.
