  • Patent number: 10626611
Abstract: A modular truss joint is a web plate with at least three connectors. Each connection includes a web integrally formed as a portion of the web plate of a certain length. Each connection is positioned at a connector angle with respect to the other connectors. The connections have continuous flanges on a periphery of the modular truss joint. Each flange is oriented transversely to the web. The connectors form a modular structure by each connecting to at least one wide flange body to form a moment resisting connection such that the modular truss joint resists flexure of the modular structure.

  • Patent number: 10538887
Abstract: An adjustable structural connection—a connection which can be adjusted to alter the location and angle of member attachment—transforms the traditional notion of connections as a static means of connecting members at specific angles to a dynamic means of assembling a variety of structurally efficient forms. The adjustable connection connects a diagonal member to a vertical or horizontal member using either curved plate mounted to both of the structural members or a temporarily rotatable link. The adjustable connection can be used in a kit-of-parts type system, using multiple versions of the adjustable connection, which can join members at a wide variety of angles using a small number of unique components.

  • Patent number: 10370805
Abstract: An adjustable structural connection can be used to join steel structural elements at a range of angles and is capable of adjusting in situ to accommodate additional angles or tolerances through cold bending. Pre-bent plate or plates may be loosely fitted around steel structural elements, such that holes in the plates align with holes of the steel structural elements. Placing bolts through the aligned holes and tightening those bolts can be used to cold bend the plate or plates and conform the angle of the pre-bent plates to a different angle defined by an apex joint of two steel structural elements. Specific tightening procedures may be employed.

  • Patent number: 10190271
Abstract: A structural plane is presented for forming a variable depth structure constructed of adjustable modules. Each module is formed of four links connected with revolute joints. The modules are connected at adjacent lateral joints and by upper and lower chords connecting the upper and lower revolute joints of the modules. The ultimate lateral joints of the modules at each end are connected to each end of the structural plane. The adjustable module and other components can form two- and three-hinged arches made of standard rolled steel sections.

  • Publication number: 20100312528
Abstract: Integrated computing systems and methods for applying sub-surface material location and composition information to engineering plans for designing, highways and other roadways, are provided. Utilizing the described systems and methods, surfaces, highways, may be more efficiently designed in a timely fashion, requiring less format conversion for inputs and outputs to be compatible throughout the design process. Additionally, adjustments for changes in alignments for the desired surfaces are more easily taken into account than in conventional design systems, permitting quicker design corrections and more accurate results.

  • Patent number: 7761262
Abstract: Methods for implementing a training facility, e.g., a military or law enforcement training facility, for a geographic location having at least one proposed observer position, e.g., a firing position, and at least one proposed target position are provided. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving design data (for instance, a digital terrain model) indicative of the geographic location, receiving data indicative of the proposed observer position and the proposed target position, applying the data indicative of the proposed observer position and the proposed target position to the design data creating modified design data, and conducting a line-of-sight analysis of the modified design data between the proposed observer position and the proposed target position.

  • Publication number: 20060241987
Abstract: A system, a method and computer-readable media for presenting project information to a user. A project is represented by multiple objects. Items of information are received, and each of these items is associated with one of the objects. A user input selecting an object is received. In response to this input, the items of information associated with the selected object are presented to a user.

  • Publication number: 20060230351
Abstract: Developing from a drawing an information-presenting interface that includes one or more display objects having variable display characteristics is provided for by receiving information from a graphics file that describes the drawing; identifying object data from the information; using the object data to render a set of definable objects that are situated to resemble the drawing; and wherein the definable objects can be associated with attributes such that the attributes can be used to present the display objects, and the display characteristics of the display objects, which the display objects correspond to the definable objects, can vary according to received situational input.

  • Publication number: 20060167728
Abstract: The assessment of security risks associated with linear corridors, such as transportation corridors and utilities corridors, is provided. Initially, a site is selected for evaluation. Survey data and context sensitive information, such as demographic information, environmental information, corridor asset information, and the like, is collected for the site. Linear corridors are identified within the data, and critical assets within each linear corridor are also identified. Security risks associated with linear corridors may then be assessed using the survey data and context sensitive information. In addition, mitigation strategies, response strategies, and recovery strategies may be developed for the security risks assessed for the linear corridors.
