Patents Assigned to Hunkeler AG
  • Patent number: 6371475
Abstract: In a drawer (20) of a high-speed printer, individual sheets (24) supplied in an imbricated stream (30) are fed from below to a stack (22) consisting of individual sheets (24). For continuous feed, a conveying means (28) is arranged in the drawer (22). The individual sheets (24) are transferred to the conveying means (28) from a delivery conveyor (36) at a transition point or interface (38).

  • Patent number: 6371402
Abstract: An apparatus for winding or unwinding material webs onto or from a winding core (3) has a bearing device (5) and a drive device (9) for driving the winding core (3) that is rotatably mounted in the bearing device (5). The drive device (9) comprises a drive (10) and a torque-transmitting device (11) from the drive (10) to the winding core (3). In order to achieve the smallest possible winding-core diameter and, nonetheless, to achieve an adequate winding or unwinding speed, the torque-transmitting device (11) comprises a toothed-belt reduction gear mechanism (12).

  • Patent number: 6363851
Abstract: A folded, bound printed product comprising a plurality of printed subproducts is produced in that an initial product is printed sequentially in such a manner as to produce a series of printed subproducts which are to be arranged one after the other, the initial product has a weakening line or the printed subproducts are provided with a weakening line, and the printed subproducts are collated, folded and bound.

  • Patent number: 6343685
Abstract: A first conveying device has first bearing elements which are arranged parallel to one another and define a planar first bearing surface. The first bearing elements are driven such that they can be displaced in a first conveying direction. A second conveying means has second bearing elements which run parallel to one another and to the first bearing elements and define a second planar bearing surface. The second bearing elements are designed as conveying elements which are driven in a second conveying direction, which runs at right angles to the first conveying direction. The second bearing elements can be displaced, by means of a lifting drive, in a lifting direction, which runs at right angles to the two bearing surfaces. The first and second bearing elements are spaced apart from one another and arranged such that, upon displacement of the second bearing elements, the latter can be pushed through the interspaces between the first bearing elements.

  • Patent number: 6158687
Abstract: The winding apparatus (1) for a paper, textile, plastic or other material web (2) comprises a reel drive apparatus (5) for driving a reel (3), in order to convey the web (2) in a feed direction (Z) and to wind it onto the reel (3), and a web tension roll (12), which is arranged upstream of the reel (3) in the feed direction (Z), in order to produce a tension which acts on the web (2) counter to the feed direction (Z), the web tension roll (12) being coupled to a drive apparatus (15), the drive apparatus (15) comprising a clutch (20) and a drive (17), the clutch (20) being operatively arranged between the drive (17) and the web tension roll (12), and the clutch (20) permitting slip between the drive (17) and the web tension roll (12).

  • Patent number: 6103040
Abstract: For forming a packaged product sample held in a carrier material (1), in a first operation two sections of material (8, 9), for example sections of film, are applied next to each other to the same side of the carrier material (1). Then, the product sample (10) is applied to one section of material (8). Subsequently, by folding the carrier material (1) about a folding line (11), the other section of material (9) is placed over the section of material (8) carrying the product sample (10). Subsequently, the two sections of carrier material (1a, 1b) lying one over the other and carrying the sections of material (8, 9) are joined to each other, to be precise along a closed region surrounding the product sample (10). In order to be able to remove the product sample, within the joining region between the two sections of carrier material (1a, 1b) there is provided a line of weakness which defines a tear-open part.

  • Patent number: 6047642
Abstract: An apparatus produces printed matter, such as forms and publicity material, from a first, continuously fed flexible material web of given width. The first flexible material web is conveyed at a first constant supply speed. A second flexible material web is conveyed at a second constant supply speed lower than the first supply speed. In a cutting station, the second flexible material web is cut into material strips. The supply speed of a leading end region of the second flexible material web is briefly increased periodically by an arrangement provided upstream of the cutting station.

  • Patent number: 4406650
Abstract: A support or carrier web, composed of sections interconnected along a separation or fracture line, is folded in a zig-zag configuration and stacked upon an elevationally displaceable support element. After the stack reaches a certain height pressure fingers are pivoted into an effectual position where they press against one side of the finished-form stack. Above these pressure fingers there are arranged suction heads which can be advanced into a position where they engage below the further arriving sections. By applying negative pressure, effective at a suction opening, there is fixidly retained at least the lowermost section of the next stack to be formed. Both of the sections belonging to the different stacks are held in an open position by the suction heads. Into the opening between both of the aforementioned sections there is introduced a roll grate carrying at its leading end a cutter or knife.

  • Patent number: 4334672
Abstract: Sheet units to be tipped onto a carrier web of indefinite length are brought into the relationship to one another that they are to have on the web while riding on an upper stretch of an endless carrier. Abutment elements on the endless carrier, at regular intervals along it, define rearwardly facing surfaces that project above said upper stretch and move forward at a predetermined velocity. An endless driver having an upper stretch paralleling that of said carrier and driven faster, frictionally urges sheet units into engagement of their front edges against said surfaces. An air permeable belt, driven at said velocity, has a bottom stretch that is under a suction shoe and the rear portion of which is upwardly adjacent to the front portion of said endless carrier, so that sheet units are sucked off of the carrier and onto said belt to be carried forward by it without change in their edgewise speed.

  • Patent number: 4331327
Abstract: Different stacks repose upon the lower section or run of an endless, revolvingly driven roller grate or grid arrangement. The return section or return run of the roller grate arrangement extends above or in overlying relation to the stacks. Below the stacks there travels a conveyor belt or band, whose conveying direction is opposite to the direction of movement of the roller grate arrangement. The rolls of the roller grate arrangement are obliquely positioned with respect to its direction of movement. Each stack possesses, at the region of the stack corner directed towards the oncoming or moving rolls, a separation element which draws the corner of the momentarily lowermost product between two rolls or rollers. By means of the subsequent rolls which travel between the lowermost product and the stack this lowermost product is separated from the stack and falls onto the conveyor belt or, as the case may be, onto products already reposing upon such conveyor belt.

  • Patent number: 3994118
Abstract: A bundle of loose sheet material such as printed matter is produced by stacking the material; compressing the stack flatwise between pressure jaws; gripping the compressed stack at vertical transversely spaced edge portions thereof by an up and down movable clamping unit; releasing the pressure jaws; lifting the clamping unit and gripped stack above the released pressure jaws; wrapping banding tape around the lifted stack by rotating the lifted clamping unit and stack about a central vertical axis; lowering the clamping unit and stack; and finally opening the lowered clamping unit to release the banded stack.
