The fabric panel has one or more elongate pockets across its width, accommodating a length-expanding stiffening rod with: an elongate guiding element of non-magnetic material; a first magnet guided for movement along the elongate guiding element; and a second magnet guided for movement along the elongate guiding element and positioned in respect of the first magnet, so that the first and second magnets repulse one another and the guiding element limits and guides the movement of the first and second magnets in respect to one another.

Abstract: A cord connector for use in a covering for an architectural opening, the connector being designed to interconnect a plurality of operating cords with a single pull cord and wherein the connector includes two interconnectable members that when interconnected define an interior space in which a retainer can be positioned. The retainer anchors the ends of the operating cords and is releasable from confinement by the two members when the two members are separated so that the operating cords can also be separated from the retainer.

Abstract: A connector for connecting a ladder cord in a venetian blind to the bottom rail of the venetian blind includes two portions with one portion being securable to the bottom rail of the venetian blind and the other portion permanently connected to the ladder cord. Interconnection of the portions of the connector thereby secure the ladder cord to the bottom rail at preselected positioning.

Abstract: An end mounting for supporting the roller of a cover for an architectural opening, the end mounting including a main body of substantially constant cross-section extending axially from a proximal end for mounting adjacent an architectural opening to a distal end for insertion into an end opening of a roller. A slider is mounted in the main body at an axial location towards the proximal end of the main body and is movable between a retracted position wholly within the cross-section of the main body and an extended position in which at least part of the slider protrudes outside the cross-section of the main body. With the slider in the retracted position, substantially all of the main body can be inserted into the end opening of the roller and, with the slider in the extended position, the main body is prevented by the slider from being inserted into the end opening of the roller beyond the slider.

The first and second layers are positioned one behind the other, with the stripes substantially parallel. The first and second layers are movable relative to one another in a direction substantially perpendicular to the stripes. The covering also includes a series of parallel binder threads for attaching the first layer to the second layer. The binder threads run substantially perpendicular to the stripes, and thereby, one of the layers can be slid along the binder threads when moved relative to the other. The blind is preferred to be woven as a double-layer fabric.

Abstract: A two-part mounting device for attaching a free end of a guide cord of a window covering to a window frame. The device includes a base that can be secured to the frame and a holder which can be attached to the free end of the cord. The holder and the free end of the guide cord can be moved, relative to the base, in opposite directions, by sliding the holder in either one of the opposite directions while the holder and base remain engaged. The holder and base can also be disengaged by sliding the holder in one of the opposite directions. The device also includes a ratchet and pawl mechanism.

Abstract: A cord lock for use in a window covering for selectively locking lift cords in a predetermined position includes a housing adapted to be fitted in the head rail of the window covering with the housing having a pivotal locking lever with a cord gripping formation at one end adjacent a locking surface on the housing and a cord guiding passage at the opposite end through which the lift cords can pass. The locking lever is pivoted about a pivot pin that is located between the cord gripping formation and the cord guiding passage so that the cord gripping formation can move toward and away from engagement with the locking surface with pivoting movement of the locking lever about the pivot pin. A fixed guiding surface is also provided around which the lift cords pass for dependable operation of the cord lock.
