Patents Assigned to Hypoguard (UK) Limited
  • Patent number: 5599314
Abstract: The present invention relates to a syringe for delivering only a single dose of a medicament at each actuation of the syringe. The device includes a cylinder which is adapted to contain the medicament, the cylinder having a piston which is journalled in the bore of the cylinder for axial movement in the bore towards an outlet. The piston can be moved axially within the bore of the cylinder by means of a plunger member which carries one or more drive teeth which are adapted to engage teeth carried by an axially moveable drive member. The axial spacing between the axially adjacent teeth on either the plunger member or the drive member corresponds to the forward axial movement of the plunger member which is required to discharge a single dose of medicament. The drive member can also be retracted axially only a predetermined distance which corresponds to one of the tooth spacings with respect to the plunger.

  • Patent number: 5494638
Abstract: The present invention relates to a membrane suitable for use as the support for one or more test reagents for testing a material applied to the membrane, which membrane is characterized in that it is initially an open pored porous material and in that at least part of the length the pores therein are blinded so that cell wall fragments from the material applied to the membrane are substantially prevented from passage through the membrane. Preferably, the pores are totally blinded by a gelatin matix containing one or more reagents which react with a fluid applied to one surface of the membrane to give a color which can be observed from a second surface of the membrane.

  • Patent number: 5366902
Abstract: A device and method are shown for assessing a fluid sample. The device includes a fluid receptor for receiving a sample of a fluid from an external source and a closed chamber for receiving fluid from the receptor through a fluid flow connection. Part of a wall of the chamber is provided by a member which carries a reagent which responds to a component of the fluid sample, whereby an indication of the response can be detected from the exterior of the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4936833
Abstract: A cartridge assembly for a syringe-type medication dispensing unit includes a cartridge having a cartridge body with first and second ends. A pierceable membrane is mounted at the first end and a piston is mounted at the second end, with a volume of medication contained in the cartridge body between the membrane and the piston. A cartridge holder receives the cartridge and defines first and second ends. The first holder end defines a central opening and an external thread for mounting a double-ended needle. The second holder end defines an external thread for securing the holder to a medication dispensing unit and an actuating shoulder. The holder frictionally engages the cartridge to form an assembly which can be handled as a single modular unit with the cartridge held securely in the holder by frictional engagement.

  • Patent number: 4865591
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for dispensing a fluid from a container by means of the axial movement of a piston within the container under the influence of a plunger moved by the device, which device is adapted to receive the container on its forward end and to move the plunger axially forward towards or within the container so as to dispense a selected amount of fluid from the container upon each actuation of the device, characterized in that the device comprises:i. a disengageable drive mechanism adapted to be reciprocated axially of the device and adapted to positively engage the plunger whereby the plunger can be moved axially forward by the drive mechanism and to be disengaged from the plunger to permit relative axial movement between the drive mechanism and the plunger;ii. a disengagement means for selectively engaging or disengaging the drive means from the plunger;iii.
