  • Publication number: 20050260084
Abstract: An automatic repeater vaccinator apparatus (10) for dispensing a predetermined volume of a fluid into an animal, particularly a fluid which is a vaccine, and reloading after each volume of fluid is dispensed. The apparatus (10) comprises a handheld syringe (100) for dispensing the fluid, a flexible conduit (12) for transferring the fluid from a dispensing means to the syringe (100), and a reservoir (48) for providing the fluid to the dispensing means. The dispensing means is electrically activated by a magnetically closeable switch (preferably a reed switch (142)) in the syringe (100), which enables a predetermined volume of the fluid to be dispensed from the syringe (100) when the dispensing means is activated and reloading fluid from the reservoir (48) to replace the volume of fluid which has been dispensed from the syringe (100) when the dispensing means is deactivated.

  • Patent number: 6960196
Abstract: The present invention provides a detectable heavy duty needle cannula (12) for use in hypodermic syringes and the like. Needle cannula (12) comprises a magnetizable or magnetized stainless steel alloy, which enables needle cannula (12) to be detectable in metal detectors that are commonly used in the meat processing industry to detect broken needle cannulas in the flesh of slaughtered animals. Needle cannula (12) further comprises a sidewall (17) that is thicker than the sidewalls of prior art needle cannulas. The thicker sidewall imparts to needle cannula (12) greater resistance to breakage during the process of injecting animal health products into an animal and greater detectability in a metal detector.

  • Patent number: 6481596
Abstract: A device (10) for dispensing a metered amount of liquid from a pressurized source of liquid (100) having a storage container (12), a valve (30) and a metering system. A plunger (16) is slidably mounted in the inner chamber (12D) of the storage container. The metering system includes a dosage ring (26) with a pin (28). The ring mounts on the outer surface of the storage container adjacent a dosage slot. The pin extends through the slot in the sidewall (12C) of the container and into a slot in the sidewall (16C) of the plunger. The pin contacts the bottom end of the slot in the plunger to stop the forward movement of the plunger during dispensing of the liquid stopping the movement of the plunger and stopping the movement of the liquid out of the storage container through the valve and out of the nozzle (40).

  • Patent number: 5147295
Abstract: An implanting gun apparatus (10) is described. A drive rod (23) is linearly moveable in a handle assembly (11) by a first pivotable linkage (16) actuated by a trigger (14), to urge a pellet (101) from a carrier (100) through a head assembly (12) and into a needle (13). A second pivotable linkage (24), also actuated by the trigger, retracts the needle, the head assembly, and the carrier into the handle after the pellet has been urged into the needle. The gun apparatus is particularly adapted to implant pellets in animals, particularly as medicament pellets.

  • Patent number: 5106370
Abstract: An improved automatic pellet carrier (100) fed pellet implanting gun apparatus (10) is described. The carrier is mounted in an opening (12b) through a front side (12c) of a retractable head (12) which is linearly moveable in a nose end (11c) of a handle assembly (11) along a longitudinal axis a--a. The carrier relies upon an internal spring (107) to automatically register a pellet (101) in a bore (12a) in the retractable head so that by actuating a trigger (14), a drive rod (23) which travels linearly along the axis a--a and through the bore in the retractable head and through the carrier, can move the pellet into the barrel (13a) of a needle (13) that has been inserted into an animal or the like. After the pellet enters the needle, the needle, the retractable head and the carrier are mechanically retracted into the gun with the carrier retracting along a slot (11f) in the nose so that the pellet is deposited in the animal, unobstructed by the needle.

  • Patent number: 4988335
Abstract: An implanting gun apparatus (10) is described. A rod (31) is linearly moveable in a pistol grip (11) so as to move a pellet out a barrel (13). A pivotable linkage (34) between a trigger (36) and a holder (32) for the rod is actuated by the trigger. The gun apparatus is particularly adapted to implant pellets in animals, particularly as medicament pellets.

  • Patent number: 4738664
Abstract: A pistol grip syringe (10) with a removable fluid container (16) is described. A piston (18) in the container separates from a driving rod (19) when the container is removed from the collar (56). The container is removed from the collar by turning one-quarter turn or less to unlock ears 16a on the container from the collar. A wedge (58) holds the rod in position during dispensing and is unlocked to pull the piston rearward in the container. The container can be disposable and the unit is easily cleaned.
