    Abstract: A switch/router comprises ports for input (In1, In2) and for output (Out1, Out2), and an interconnection matrix for linking each input port with each of the output ports with interposition of a respective memory. A controller assembly maintains management rules, including those for switching/routing, in conjunction with identifiers. A respective queue manager for each of the input ports is adapted so as, on receipt of a packet, to determine a management identifier, to interrogate the corresponding rules so as to determine the output port, to evaluate a condition on the content of the packet, and to associate it with a queue organized in the memory corresponding to the output port. Schedulers (SCHR1, SCHR2) are adapted for respectively delivering the packets at each output port, in an order deduced from an additional condition, which takes account of the management identifier.
