Patents Assigned to Instrumentarium OY
  • Patent number: 4543959
Abstract: The invention relates to a diagnosis apparatus for simultaneously collecting information on tissue structure and tissue quality from a target, e.g. human body to be examined. The apparatus of the invention comprises means (1) for emitting ultrasonic pulses and for detecting and registering reflections from the interfaces between tissues in target area (16) determined by said means, and means (10) for processing the information obtained from a target area by means of said ultrasonic pulses as well as means (8) for visualizing the information for finding and localizing tissue area to be characterized.

  • Patent number: 4511847
Abstract: The invention relates to a filter assembly for eliminating mains disturbances from an electric signal, especially noise type of bioelectric signal, for analyzing the signal characterizing quantities, particularly amplitude or intensity. The invention includes a sample and hold circuit for providing analogous discrete time signals from the signal to be analyzed by employing doubled mains frequency as a sampling frequency, a summer for providing signals Y.sub.n =1/2(X.sub.n +X.sub.n-1), wherein X.sub.n is a number n sample, from successive analogous samples for filtering away the mains frequency and its odd harmonic frequencies, as well as a high-pass filter for said signals Y.sub.n for filtering away the even harmonic frequencies of mains frequency.

  • Patent number: 4419764
Abstract: A slit collimator for use in a panoramic X-ray apparatus for the collimation of X-rays into a narrow fan-like beam. The collimation is achieved by means of a collimator slit formed in a trunion which is rotatable about its longitudinal axis and by rotating the trunion the effective radiation-penetrable size of the slit is varied.

  • Patent number: 4412917
Abstract: An apparatus for peritoneal dialysis including a first vessel to contain dialysis fluid and a second vessel to contain spent dialysis fluid. The first and second vessels are connected through a conduit means with the abdominal cavity of a patient, and a pump is located in the conduit means between the first vessel and the abdominal cavity to pump dialysis fluid into the cavity, while a flow control means, such as a valve, is located in the conduit means between the abdominal cavity and the second vessel to control the flow of dialysis fluid being removed from the patient. A branch conduit interconnects the conduit means at a location between the first vessel and the abdominal cavity and the branch conduit is provided with a third overflow vessel located at a higher level than the abdominal cavity.

  • Patent number: 4382806
Abstract: A method of separating water from a gas sample. The gas sample is conducted from a patient to a water separating chamber having a tapered lower end. A continuous branch flow is produced from the gas sample for the separation of water, and the branch flow with the separated water is discharged from the lower end of the chamber to a first outlet by applying a vacuum to the first outlet. The gas is continuously withdrawn from the upper end of the chamber through a second outlet by applying a vacuum to said second outlet. The flow through the respective outlets is regulated so that the flow through the first outlet is preferably less than the flow through the second outlet.

  • Patent number: 4320766
Abstract: A capacitive motion sensor placed under a mattress or the like for monitoring the movements of a person. The sensor uses an active layer consisting of two courses of dielectric material placed in contact with one another. Movements of a person on top of the mattress cause the courses to move relative to one another, thereby generating an electric change in the active layer which is detected by a pair of spaced elements which form a capacitive antenna means.

  • Patent number: 4304578
Abstract: A water separator for a gas analyzer comprising a container defining a water separation chamber and having a generally conical bottom. An inlet conduit is connected to the chamber for conducting a gas sample to the chamber, and a water outlet conduit communicates with the lower end of the chamber and collected water is continuously drawn from the chamber by a pump. A gas outlet conduit is connected to the upper end of the water separation chamber and a second pump is connected to the gas outlet conduit to continuously draw gas from the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4266131
Abstract: The present invention concerns a gas analyzer, for instance a CO.sub.2 analyzer, comprising a measuring chamber for the gas to be examined, a reference chamber from which the gas to be measured has been drawn off, a light source and a chopper disk, which chops the light beam to make it pass alternatingly through the measuring and reference chambers and so that in between there is a period during which no light is passed through at all, and an automatic gain control which maintains a constant difference between the "dark" signal and the signal delivered by the reference chamber. An attenuation member is positioned adjacent the reference chamber so the light beam passing through the reference chamber is attenuated to cause a shift of the operating point of the gain control circuit into the gently ascending part of the absorption versus concentration curve.
