Abstract: A digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with a digital segment having a digital data input and an analog segment coupled to the digital segment and having an analog output to output an analog signal corresponding to the digital data. The analog segment includes one or more gain stages and a feedback structure to couple the analog output to the one or more gain stages to attenuate signal distortion at the analog output. A combined gain of the one or more gain stages determines a signal distortion attenuation characteristic of the analog segment.
Abstract: A transmission method and system are provided wherein the system and method use precoding and sum rate optimization beam forming to create a capacity transmission.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a system and method may manage network resources to provide a near zero-cost background replication of data. Such a system may be inhibited from causing interference with foreground data flows. Such a system may also utilize a large fraction of spare network bandwidth. A system configured to implement such a method may include one or more servers and at least one client in communication via a network. Additionally the system may include a hint server, a monitor and/or a front-end application between a demand server and the network.

Abstract: A method for growing large single crystals of metals is disclosed. A polycrystalline form of a metal specimen is initially heated in a non-oxidizing environment. A minimum plastic strain is then applied to the heated metal specimen to initiate the growth of a selected grain within the heated metal specimen. Additional plastic strain is subsequently applied to the heated metal specimen to propagate the growth of the selected grain to become a large single crystal.
