Abstract: The present invention is directed to a shipping and display tray a having a bottom wall, a front wall, a back wall, and a pair of opposed side walls foldably joined with one another for holding different products contained therein in an upright position at a point of sale. The shipping and display tray comprising a one-piece shallow tray having a plurality of different sizes of compartments each of which contains a different product size and count therein. Each of the plurality of different sizes of compartments includes an adjustable buffer configured to change the size of the compartment and to accommodate the different product size and count while maintaining a fixed perimeter or outside dimension of the one-piece shallow tray.

Abstract: An article-transport container comprises a floor having a respective left-side and right-side closures foldably joined thereto. A front end closure is foldably joined to the floor and to the respective right-side and left-side closures. A rear end closure is foldably joined to the floor and to the respective right-side and left-side closures. Four quad-layer corners are defined by a first quad-layer corner, a second quad-layer corner, a third quad-layer corner, and a fourth quad-layer corner which cooperate with the respective right-side and left-side closures to define an interior region adapted to receive articles therein. The first quad-layer corner includes respective outer and inner layers and respective first and second medial layers that are sandwiched between the respective outer and inner layers to enhance stacking strength of the container while minimizing scarps produced during construction of the container.

Abstract: A shipping container convertible into a display container comprises a top wall, a bottom wall, and opposed side walls foldably joined to the top and bottom walls to form an interior space. A tear away window panel is formed on one of the side walls. The tear away window panel includes width and height defined by a perforated line of weakness extending across the width and on a portion of height of the side walls. A displayable insert tray is configured to be disposed into the interior space of the container to receive products and concealed therein when the container is in a shipping position. The displayable insert tray includes a bottom panel and at least one feeder ledge foldably joined to the bottom panel wherein upon removing the tear away window panel and pulling away the feeder ledge, the container is converted to a display position to expose the products.

Abstract: A container is formed from a one-piece unitary blank of material in which the container comprises a bottom wall foldably joined to upstanding opposed parallel side walls, a back wall, and a front wall. A top wall is foldably joined to the back wall. The bottom wall comprises at least first and second slots each of which are formed on opposed lateral edges in proximity of the front wall. A first shoulder panel is foldably joined to a longitudinal edge of the front wall. The first shoulder panel includes respective first and second hammer-lock flaps each of which is foldably joined from opposed lateral edges. Each of the respective first and second hammer-lock flaps includes respective first and second locking tabs extending outwardly from respective free edges and is inserted into the corresponding first and second slots on the bottom wall.

Abstract: A collapsible shipping container is capable of configured from a collapsed position for storage and transportation to a constructed position for containment of articles therein and back again to the collapsed position after use. The collapsible shipping container comprises a foldable tray having at least two pallet runner sleeves spaced apart from one another and each of which being formed on respective opposed lateral edges of the foldable tray. A plurality of elongated pallet runners each of which having an inner support structure integrally formed thereto. The plurality of elongated pallet runners each of which is adapted to be inserted into each of the respective plurality of pallet runner sleeves. A foldable side wall body is adapted to rest upon the foldable tray to form an interior space to receive a plurality of articles. The foldable side wall body comprises end walls, side walls, and side body flaps to form an enclosed bottom thereof.

Abstract: A shipping container convertible to a display configuration has a removable cover base removable along perforated lines of weakness to form a display opening. Packages of product in the carton are supported in a horizontal orientation during shipping and in an upright orientation when the removable cover base is removed for display of the products at a point of sale. Roll-over flaps on one wall at the bottom of the display opening capture tuck flaps on opposite side walls, and full overlapping top flaps folded inwardly from opposite side walls close the display opening during shipment. An outer top flap has an end extending over the roll-over flaps, and the end is free of attachment to the roll-over flaps. The top flaps are removed with the removable cover base. In one embodiment a flange extends inwardly over an edge of the display opening to keep packages from falling out.

Abstract: A bulk shipping container has a plurality of removable supporting legs extending downwardly from a periphery of its interior space beyond the bottom of the container to support the container in an elevated position above a floor. Reinforcing straps positioned on the container hold the legs in their extended positions. A dolly may be positioned beneath the elevated container between the supporting legs and the reinforcing straps removed to enable the weight of the container to cause it to slide down along the plurality of removable supporting legs to a lowered position resting on the dolly, which may then be used to transport the loaded container into a building for removal of product from the container.

Abstract: A freestanding display rack used for supporting and displaying product at a point of sale. The display rack can be shipped in a knocked-down flattened condition in a compact package and assembled without using tools. The display rack comprises a pair of spaced apart side panels and a plurality of shelves extend between and supported at their opposite ends on the side panels by a plurality of mechanical interlocking engaged between the shelves and the side panels. The plurality of mechanical interlocking comprises slots in the side panels and tabs integral with the shelves on opposite ends thereof extended through the slots. An opening formed in an end of each of the tabs projecting through the slots in the respective side panel. A locking pin inserted in each the opening to prevent withdrawal of the tabs from the slots. A graphics header extends above the shelves and side panels.

Abstract: Biodegradable laminates including biodegradable polymers have oxygen and moisture barrier properties. The oxygen and moisture barrier layers are biodegradable. If the barrier layers have poor adhesion, degradable tie layers can be included to improve adhesion. Combination of laminate structures can be formed to increase the overall oxygen and moisture barrier characteristics. The biodegradable laminates can be formed by extrusion.

Abstract: A waterproof, anti-wicking, and fully recyclable corrugated container comprises a base portion having a bottom wall, a pair of opposite side walls, a pair of opposite end walls, and a plurality of joined flaps foldably joined with the side walls and the end walls. Each of the plurality of the joined flap folds onto itself to form a gusset that is attached to the respective side walls. A lid portion is telescopically engaged over the base portion such that is coextensive in length and width with the base portion side walls and end walls. The lid portion comprises a score or crease line formed along near free edge of the side walls to inhibit liquid from traveling up through the side walls.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a shipping and display tray for holding a plurality of articles contained therein in an upright position at a point of sale. The shipping and display tray is made of paperboard and defined by a one-piece shallow tray having a bottom wall, a front wall, a back wall, and opposite side walls foldably joined with one another. A plurality of parallel spaced apart bumpers are foldably joined to the respective opposite side walls and forming two rows, an aisle, and a plurality of channels when positioned on the bottom wall. The plurality of the channels engages with bottom edges of the plurality of articles to hold the article in standing upright position and prevent the articles from falling over when one of the articles is removed from the display tray. The front wall of the tray includes a flap panel foldably joined thereto and has a pair of openings used to engage with the bumpers.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of producing a thermoformable composite by crosslinking PHA and PLA together in the presence of an additive to produce PHA and PLA blend and resins having: (a) a Ts value of up to about 180° C.; and (b) a heat distortion index of up to about 160° C. The thermoformable composite is used to make a food or beverage cup, lid, cutlery item, foodservice item, molded tray, or food storage container. The thermoformable composite comprises from about 5% to about 95% by weight of polylactic acid (PLA), from about 5% to about 95% by weight polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) polymer, and from about 0.01% to about 60% additives wherein the PLA and PHAs being crosslink together by intermolecular means to enhance performance and processability.

Abstract: A child-resistant but adult-friendly package package comprising a sleeve having top and bottom walls, opposite side walls, a closed end, and an open end. A blister card insert configured to be movable into and out of the sleeve through the open end. A first latch element on the insert and a second latch element on the sleeve, the first and second latch elements are interengageable when the insert is fully inserted in the sleeve to latch the insert against withdrawal from the sleeve. A biasing member on the insert is configured to be in contact with the top and bottom walls of the sleeve, urging the first latch element into engagement with the second latch element. The biasing member also forming a first portion of a retaining means to prevent complete withdrawal of the insert from the sleeve and a second portion of the retaining means is formed on the sleeve for cooperation with the first portion to retain the insert against complete withdrawal from the sleeve.

At least one of the plurality of diagonal corner walls defined by at least one diagonal corner panel and at least one reinforcement flap overlapping one another and wherein a portion of the bottom wall projects under and beyond a bottom edge of the at least one diagonal corner wall. The at least one reinforcement flap extends from longitudinal ends of the respective opposite side walls. At least one end flap extends from long side of the reinforcement flap and the at least one end flap projects beyond an entire surface of the at least one diagonal corner wall terminating its edge at the end wall.

Abstract: A one-piece tray for shipping and then displaying articles in an upright position at a point of sale has a bottom wall, a front wall, a back wall, and opposite side walls and is made of corrugated board having a bottom liner, a top liner, and a fluted medium. A plurality of grooves extend across the width of the bottom wall in a top surface thereof to engage bottom edges of articles standing upright in the tray and hold them in position as other articles are removed from the front of the tray. The grooves are formed by cuts made through the top liner and a portion of the medium and crushed areas extending along one side of each cut, forming a rearwardly facing abutment at each cut for engaging bottom edges of articles to prevent the bottom edges from sliding forward in the tray.

Abstract: A system includes a cutting station having a laser cutter for cutting surface marks, score lines, holes, slots, flaps, panels, etc. into a selected substrate, an image capture device for capturing digital image data associated with the selected substrate, and a computing system for controlling the cutting process. The computing system 32 initiates a calibration test cycle that 1) cuts a test pattern into the selected substrate; and 2) analyzes the test pattern that was cut into the selected substrate. Based on the results of the analysis of the captured image, the system adjusts the operational parameters of the laser cutter during a subsequent packaging production run utilizing the same substrate type.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a paperboard container having generally finger access or handhold openings forming carry handles in the end walls. The handhold openings are defined by two adjacent tapered punch-out panels aligned end-to-end and hinged at their outer ends to a respective end wall. When two adjacent tapered punch-out panels punched out they fold oppositely to one another and inwardly into the container in laterally spaced relation to one another on opposite sides of the respective openings. A tear-out panel in one end wall adjoins the associated hand hold openings and when removed forms a dispensing or pourable opening immediately below the associated hand hold openings.
