    Abstract: An atomic beam is quantum-mechanically collimated. The atomic beam is irradiated with a pumping laser beam and a filtering laser beam in this order. The pumping laser beam has a wavelength corresponding to a transition between a ground state and an excited state of atoms in the atomic beam. Irradiation with the pumping laser beam causes atoms to make transition from the ground state to the excited state and further relax from the excited state to a metastable state. The filtering laser beam has a wavelength corresponding to a transition between the ground state and the metastable state. By irradiating the filtering laser beam, atoms in the metastable state having velocity components equal to or smaller than a predetermined velocity component ?v in a traveling direction of the filtering laser beam are caused to make transition to the ground state.

When one of the transmission/reception units is attached to the object, the one of the transmission/reception units is arranged so as to oppose the other one of the transmission/reception units in a non-contact manner such that electric power can be wirelessly transmitted therebetween.

    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a connector comprises providing a housing and a contact intermediate product, making the holding portion of the housing hold a held portion of the contact intermediate product to attach the contact intermediate product to the housing, and inserting a jig between a contact point and the held portion to deform the contact intermediate product plastically and thereby forming a contact. The contact intermediate product does not enter an allowing portion in a state where it is attached to the housing. After the plastically deformation, a tip portion is situated in the allowing portion, and it is hidden by a movement suppression portion at least in part when viewed along an up-down direction.

    Abstract: A connector is mateable with a mating connector in a front-rear direction. The connector has a main portion which is formed of a multilayer wiring substrate. The multilayer wiring substrate includes a first metal conductive layer and a second metal conductive layer. The second metal conductive layer has two conductive exposed portions. The conductive exposed portions are exposed to an outside of the connector at opposite side surfaces, respectively, of the main portion. The conductive exposed portions correspond to hooks, respectively, of the mating connector. Each of the conductive exposed portions has a thickness greater than a thickness of a lock portion of the corresponding hook of the mating connector. The lock portion of each of the hooks is brought into contact with the corresponding conductive exposed portion when the lock portions lock a mated state where the mating connector and the connector are mated with each other.

When the connector is under the attached state, the barrel encloses the main portion in the perpendicular plane and is fixed to the main portion, and the stopper is located forward of the barrel.
