  • Patent number: 5075363
Abstract: A matte thermoplastic resin composition consisting essentially of:(A) 70-97% by weight of a rubber-modified alkenyl a romatic thermoplastic resin and(B) 30-3% by weight of a graft copolymer as a high polymer modifier for matting, obtained by polymerizting an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid and at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of an alkenyl aromatic compound, an alkenyl cyanide compound and other copolymerizable alkenyl monomer in the presence of a rubbery polymer latex, wherein the content of the ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid component in the graft copolymer (B) is 1-30% by weight and the content of the rubbery polymer in the graft copolymer (B) is 10-60% by weight. Said composition has an excellent matte effect especially when the rubbery polymer latex gives a percentage coagulation of 20% by weight or less based on the total solids of the latex when 15% by weight, based on the total solids, of methacrylic acid is added to the latex.

  • Patent number: 4990585
Abstract: A hexene-1/4 methylpentene-1 random copolymer composed of 65 to 90% by weight of hexene-1 unit and 35 to 10% by weight of 4-methylpentene-1 unit and having a polystyrene-reduced number average molecular weight of 20,000 to 500,000, which copolymer is useful in applications as rubber vibration insulators, modifiers for plastics and rubbers and adhesives. Said random copolymer is produced by copolymerizing 60 to 95% by weight of hexene-1 with 40 to 50% by weight of 4-methylpentene-1 in the presence of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst comprising a transition metal component and an organometal compound component.

  • Patent number: 4954125
Abstract: A catalyst consisting essentially of (A) a cobalt compound and (B) an organic phosphorus compound represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are independently hydrogen atoms, alkyl groups or aryl groups, and three X's, which may be the same or different, are electron-donating groups. This catalyst is effectively used in a process for producing a conjugated diene polymer by polymerizing a conjugated diene in a hydrocarbon or halogenated hydrocarbon solvent in the presence of the above catalyst together with (C) an organoaluminum compound and (D) 0.25-1.5 mols, per mol of the organoaluminum compound (C), of water.

  • Patent number: 4053446
Abstract: Polydiene polyurethanes having high tear strength are obtained by using polydiene glycols, prepared with use of lithium-based catalyst, having a number average molecular weight of 1,000 to 5,000 and functionality of 1.8 - 2.1, diisocyanates and chain-extending agents, and by controlling chemical cross-link density being 4 .times. 10.sup.-5 mole/cc and less. When the chemical cross-link density is within the above range, elongation and tensile strength in addition to tear strength of the polyurethane are improved significantly. Furthermore, when 10 - 50 parts by weight of the specified carbon black are added to 100 parts by weight of the mixture of the prepolymer, the chain-extending agent and the additive prior to curing the prepolymer, these mechanical properties of the polyurethane are improved further.
