Patent number: 5361850Abstract: The invention relates to a side strut (6) for the lower steering arm of a three-point hitch of a tractor. Locking catches (24, 25) are provided to cancel the floating position which the two telescopic members (14, 15) of the side strut 6 may assume relative to each other. The catches (24, 25) lock the members via locking contours (29, 30) of a locking recess 28, which surround and secure to a locking journal (31). The two locking catches (24, 25) are arranged at the sides of the telescopic members (14, 15). The locking catches have their pivot axis of the articulated journal (27) the points of contact between the locking contours (29, 30) and the locking journals (31), in a locked position, positioned on a connecting line. The line extends parallel to the sliding axis (16) and through the pivot axis of the ball eye (13). In this way, it is ensured that the locking catches (24, 25) and also the side strut (6), together, are not subject to any bending moments resulting from any tensile or compressive forces.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1992Date of Patent: November 8, 1994Assignee: Jean Walterscheid GmbHInventors: Norbert Muller, Ju Vollmer, Paul Herchenbach

Patent number: 5342241Abstract: A torque limiting coupling (5) has a plurality of slide-like driving members (19) circumferentially and movably distributed in a coupling hub (10). The unit is rotatably accommodated in a coupling sleeve (7). The driving members (19), with their torque transmitting faces (25) at their heads, are pushed by a spring assembly (38, 39) and switching cams (32) into correspondingly designed recesses (22) of the coupling sleeve (7). The pressure springs (38, 39) and the switching faces (30, 31) of the driving members (19) as well as the torque transmitting face (25) are arranged so as to extend in the same direction. Thus, the springs (38, 39), during the transmission of torque by the coupling sleeve (7), subject the driving members (19) to a moment which acts against the tilting moment resulting from the transmission of torque. This results in an improved wear and switching behavior.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1992Date of Patent: August 30, 1994Assignee: Jean Walterscheid GmbHInventor: Klaus Kampf

Patent number: 5308281Abstract: A coupling having a coupling hub and a rotatably received coupling sleeve. Locking catches (19)are arranged between these two components to transmit torque. Supporting faces of the locking catches, in the torque transmitting position, are supported on corresponding supporting faces of the coupling hub and coupling sleeve. The locking catches are held in the torque transmitting position by switching rings which, via switching faces, act on corresponding switching faces at the ends of the locking catches. In the case of overloading, the switching ring is axially adjusted against the force of a spring and releases the coupling towards the disengaged position. The coupling slides inwardly as a result of the relative movement on the inclined supporting faces of the coupling sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1992Date of Patent: May 3, 1994Assignee: Jean Walterscheid GmbHInventor: Clemens Nienhaus

Patent number: 5263734Abstract: A coupling device for a tractor has a frame (4) which is mounted on the rear underside (3) of the tractor (1). A drawbar (14), with a coupling member (15), is guided in the frame (4). The drawbar (14) is moved by a slide (18) and can be swung sideways about a vertical axis. Centering pieces (34) and stop blocks with centering faces (35) and stop faces (38) engage one another to laterally align and fix the drawbar (14). In a lower position the drawbar facilitates lateral swivelling movement about the connecting pin (22). In an upper towing position the drawbar (14) is laterally fixed by the centering pieces (34) and the stop blocks (38). This results in improved control of the coupling members associated with the to be towed implement through lateral alignment of the drawbar and its automatic transfer into its centered position.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1992Date of Patent: November 23, 1993Assignee: Jean Walterscheid GmbHInventors: Herbert Coenen, Hans J.
