  • Patent number: 4640081
Abstract: An automatic packaging apparatus has a bag forming device for automatically forming bags each containing one or more articles and a vacuum sealing device for sealing open ends of the bags in a vacuum. The vacuum sealing device has a plurality of bag supporting devices revolving synchronously with the feeding device and having respective pillow heads for resting thereon the open ends of the bags and vacuum covers each cooperating with a respective one bag supporting device to form one vacuum box in which the open end of the bag is sealed by and between a heating member provided in the vacuum box and the pillow head. Further the pillow head or a platform of the bag supporting device is moved vertically.

  • Patent number: 4546595
Abstract: Articles to be packaged are introduced at a constant rate into a continuous length of heat sealable film which is being folded into approximately tubular shape while being fed at a speed selected in accordance with the size of the articles. The side edges of the folded film are heat sealed over the successive articles received therein at longitudinal spacings. A package conveyor receives the side sealed film, together with the articles contained therein, for transporting the same along a linear track between an upper sealer conveyor carrying a series of heater bar assemblies and a lower sealer conveyor carrying a series of anvil bar and cutter assemblies. The heater bar assemblies and the anvil bar and cutter assemblies coact to engage therebetween the side sealed film, at points intermediate the articles received therein, and to cut the film, at the entrance end of the package conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4480425
Abstract: A vacuum packaging apparatus has two lower chambers with open upper face in side-by-side arrangement in a base box and a single upper chamber with an open bottom face in an upper head which is supported by a plurality of links on the base box and can be shifted alternately from atop one lower chamber to atop the other thereby to form alternatively two vacuum chambers for vacuum packaging. Moving parts of the apparatus are actuated by an electric and vacuum control system including some valves, some switches for controlling the valves, fluid passages formed in the base box and the upper and lower heads and a vacuum pump. While vacuum packaging is being carried out in the vacuum chamber formed on one side, preparation of a commodity to be packaged and packaging materials can be carried out in the other lower chamber.

  • Patent number: 3958391
Abstract: A quantity of livestock meat for food is charged into a package bag made of a heat-shrinkable plastic film of substantially tubular shape of constant overall length sufficient for packaging variable quantities of the meat, the bag having a bottom end closed by transverse heat sealing and an open top end and being thus charged in a manner to leave an unfilled part between the seal and the meat, a surplus bag part being left outside of the seal, and this surplus part just outside of the seal is transversely and partially cut for subsequent serverence of the surplus bag part from the package bag, which is then immersed in hot water for a few seconds to cause shrinkage of the bag tightly around the meat. The vacuum packaging operation is advantageously accomplished in vacuum chambers formed by a continuity of vacuum boxes mating with corresponding platform plates in a vacuum packaging apparatus.
