  • Patent number: 6568447
Abstract: The cover glass adhering device is capable of dropping fixed amount of mounting medium, using cover glasses having various length, and being small in size. In the cover glass adhering device, a drop nozzle drops the mounting medium onto a specimen on a slide glass, which is held horizontally. A removing member removes a drop of the mounting medium dangling from the drop nozzle. The removing member is located outside of the slide glass. A traveling unit travels the drop nozzle, from which the dangling drop of the mounting medium has been removed by the removing member, along the specimen on the slide glass so as to drop a prescribed amount of the mounting medium over the specimen.

  • Patent number: 5338358
Abstract: Apparatus for dyeing tissues sampled from a living body for the purpose of observing immunoreaction of the tissues has a dyeing tray with a plurality of plateaus arranged in parallel disposition. A slide is so placed over each plateau that a wedge-shaped gap of capillary dimension is formed between the plateau and the undersurface of the slide to which a sampled tissue is attached. A liquid drip surface and a liquid discharge port are formed at one end of the top surface of each plateau. A liquid delivery port is formed on a side wall of the tray so as to communicate with the liquid discharge port. The liquid delivery port and the drip surface are always exposed. A dyeing liquid or a rinsing liquid is dripped onto the exposed drip surface and spreads into the gap for dyeing the tissue or rinse the relevant parts. After the dyeing or rinsing, the used liquid is sucked and discharged by way of the liquid delivery port.

  • Patent number: 5167926
Abstract: A plurality of open-top sample tubes, each containing a simple liquid containing cells to be treated, are removably mounted on a disklike sample carrier which is rotatable about a vertical axis for centrifuging the samples. Disposed above the sample carrier are a set of fixed reagent supply nozzles for dropping a desired reagent or reagents into the sample tubes and at least one supply-discharge nozzle movable into and out of the successive sample tubes. A hydropneumatic circuit is coupled to the supply-discharge nozzle for intimately intermingling the samples and the reagents and for rinsing the supply-discharge nozzle and other required parts. In an alternate embodiment a single supply-discharge nozzle is employed for reagent supply into the sample tubes, for intermingling the samples and the reagents, and for rinsing.

  • Patent number: 5068091
Abstract: A device for dyeing tissues of living bodies for immune response observation comprises dyeing block on which are formed a plurality of adjoining base portion each having a flat upper surface. On one side of the base portion is formed a ridge, and on the other side of the base portion is formed a supporting surface which is slightly higher than the ridge. A slide glass having a tissue attached to one surface is placed above each of the base portion with the surface thereof facing the upper surface of the base portion, so as to bridge the ridge and the supporting surface in such a manner that a thin wedge-shaped gap is defined between the upper surface of the base and the undersurface of the slide glass. Dyeing liquid is dripped from above onto the upper surface of the base portion which is not covered by the slide glass. The dripped dyeing liquid spreads into the wedge-shaped gap by capillary action, whereby the tissue on the undersurface of the slide glass is dipped in the liquid and dyed.

  • Patent number: 5051135
Abstract: A cleaning method and cleaning system using an organic solvent such as Freon. A cleaning tank is closed after an article to be cleaned is placed within the cleaning tank. The solvent is supplied to the cleaning tank from a solvent storage tank. The article is cleaned with the supplied solvent. After the cleaning, the solvent is discharged in liquid state from the cleaning tank while vapor of the solvent which remains in the cleaning tank is discharged to a condenser to condense the vapor. The condensed solvent is returned from the condenser into the solvent storage tank. After the liquid solvent and vapor solvent are discharged from the cleaning tank, the cleaned article is taken out from the cleaning tank. The condenser is incorporated in a distiller. A solvent vapor supplying unit is connected to the cleaning tank. The thus provided closed system prevents release of Freon to the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 4923449
Abstract: An apparatus for the collection of blood via a collapsible inflow pipe into an inflatable bag having an anticoagulant prefilled therein. The bag is placed on a weighing platform coupled to a load cell, which produces an electric voltage signal representative of the weight of the blood being collected in the bag. The load cell is mounted on a swing cradle capable of oscillation about a horizontal axis, so that the bag is shaken during blood collection for intimately intermingling the collected blood and the anticoagulant. When a predetermined amount of blood is collected, as ascertained from the voltage output of the load cell, a controller actuates a collection stop mechanism thereby causing the same to tightly grip and collapse the inflow pipe.

  • Patent number: 4483270
Abstract: An apparatus for automatically pretreating and paraffining biological specimens in a single vessel for the preparation of specimen blocks to be microtomed into thin slices for microscopical study. A rotary selector valve assembly with a built-in gate valve placed a plurality of reagent vessels, containing various reagents including molten paraffin, in and out of communication with the processing vessel in a prescribed sequence. An air pump coacts with directional control valves to evacuate the processing vessel for drawing the successive reagents into same via the rotary selector valve assembly and to deliver gas under pressure into the vessel for the discharge of the reagents therefrom back into the respective reagent vessels. For automating the apparatus a level sensor is provided to the processing vessel in order to close the gate valve and to set the pump out of operation whenever a reagent is drawn into the processing vessel to a predetermined level.
