Abstract: A lubricating oil composition containing as essential ingredients a lubricating oil component having a melting point of not higher than 100.degree. C., and one or more water-soluble dispersants selected from the group consisting of anionic polymeric dispersants of a molecular weight of 250 to 25,000, and polyoxyethylene type surfactants of a molecular weight of 3,000 to 20,000 and an HLB value of at least 18, said lubricating oil component being present in a stably dispersed state in water, achieves excellent adhesion when supplied to a machined portion.

Abstract: A hair treatment comprising in dissolved form three essential components including at least one decomposition derivative of keratin, a cationic polymer, and at least one compound selected from organic and inorganic salts and urea having a solubility in water of over 1 g/100 g of water at 25.degree. C. The hair treatment within the scope of the invention covers various types of treatments such as hair setting lotion, hair styling lotion, cutting lotion, brushing lotion and the like.

Abstract: A hair rinse composition which comprises at least one cationic surface active agent and a decomposition derivative of a keratin material which have been dissolved or dispersed in a suitable solvent. The decomposition derivative is a member selected from hydrolysates of keratin material, alkali salts of decomposition products obtained by oxidation of keratin material, alkali salts of derivatives at a thiol group of decomposition products obtained by reduction of keratin material and a mixture thereof.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is an electrochemical battery having electrodes immersed in an organic solvent electrolyte solution so that the electromotive force is generated by doping to and/or undoping from said electrodes. Both electrodes are characterized to be carbon molded products having a specific surface area of 100 to 2500 m.sup.2 /g. The electrodes according to this invention are capable of accepting a large quantity of doping, light in weight and easy to handle.

Abstract: There is disclosed a hair setting lotion which comprises a predetermined amount of a polymeric compound for setting the hair and a propylene oxide and ethylene oxide adduct of a higher alcohol. The adduct is contained in an amount of 0.05-1.0 time the polymeric compound on the weight basis. In order to further improve the hair setting effect, squalane can be added in an amount of 0.05-2.0 times the polymeric compound on the weight basis.
Abstract: A leather-like sheet material having low slip characteristics comprising:a sheet material having a fibrous substrate and a surface layer consisting of a polymer mainly composed of polyurethane elastomer, andan acryl-modified polyurethane resin spread on the said surface,whereby the sheet material has a remarkably high friction coefficient, and is adapted to balls, baseball gloves, bags, cases and the like which are required to prevent slipperiness.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a novel 2,3-dialkoxypropyl glyceryl ether and the preparation process for it. The above diglycerin dialkyl ether is readily prepared with high yield and purity by reacting its corresponding glycidyl ether with a protected glycerin to form a 1,3-dioxolan compound, followed by etherifying the thus formed 1,3-dioxolan compound into a dialkyl ether dioxolan compound, and then hydrolyzing the resultant dialkyl ether dioxolan compound. This diglycerin dialkyl ether is useful as an emulsifier, cleaner etc., and is preferably used as a component of cosmetic compositions. A cosmetic composition comprising the above 2,3-dialkoxypropyl glyceryl ether is also disclosed.
Abstract: A method of preparing green ceramic tapes, comprising adding to 100 parts by weight of a fine ceramic powder, 2 to 15 parts by weight, in terms of its resin content, of a binder mixture consisting of an aqueous polyurethane and a water-soluble acrylic resin, the amount of said water-soluble acrylic resin ranging from 10 to 1500 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of said aqueous polyurethane in said binder mixture, adding a small amount of a dispersing agent to the mixture followed by a sufficient amount of water, kneading the resultant mixture for a time sufficient to prepare an aqueous slip, forming a tape in a known manner from said aqueous, and then drying the green tape obtained.

Abstract: A hair rinse composition comprising one or more quaternary ammonium salts, a silicone derivative and a polyethylene glycol is disclosed. The ammonium salts are represented by ##STR1## wherein one or two of the R's are certain higher alkyl or hydroxyalkyl groups and the rest are certain lower alkyl, lower hydroxylalkyl, benzyl or polyoxyethylene groups, and X is a halogen atom or alkylsulfuric group. The hair rinse composition according to this invention has superior rinsing effects, i.e., effectiveness to impart adequate softness, smoothness and antistatic property to hair.
Abstract: Hair cosmetics comprising as its effective component .alpha.-mono(methyl-branched alkyl) glyceryl ether of the formulaR--OCH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 OHwherein R represents a methyl-branched saturated hydrocarbon group having 12-24 carbon atoms. The glyceryl ether is usually present in an amount of 0.5-30 wt % of the cosmetic composition.
Abstract: A hair rinse composition comprising .alpha.-mono(methyl-branched alkyl) glyceryl ethers of the formulaR--OCH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 OHwherein R represents a methyl-branced saturated hydrocarbon having 12-24 carbon atoms, with or without use of quaternary ammonium salts in combination. The ether is dissolved in an aqueous medium including water, or a combination of water with an organic solvent compatible with water.
Abstract: An insect repellent is disclosed which comprises, as essential ingredients, N,N-diethyltoluamide as a repellent component, and an aromatic proton donor in which the aromatic rings are substituted directly by hydroxyl and/or carboxyl groups. This repellent composition has a longer lasting effect due to increased resistance to absorption through the skin.
Abstract: Some 4-(2'-hydroxy-3'-alkoxy)propoxymethyl-1,3-dioxolanes are prepared by reacting alkylglycidyl ethers with acetal or ketal derivatives of glycerol in the presence of an acidic or basic catalyst. Also disclosed is a process for preparing certain 2-hydroxy-3-alkoxy-propylglyceryl ethers, which process comprises subjecting the 4-(2'-hydroxy-3'-alkoxy)propoxymethyl-1,3-dioxolanes to hydrolysis. The above processes can afford intended reaction products with good yield without need for any special post-reaction treatment.
