    Abstract: The connection of structural component parts in adjusting devices for seats, in particular for motor vehicle seats, is disclosed. In connecting structural component parts for adjusting devices for seats, the structural component parts to be rigidly connected with one another are welded in their connecting region. In order to prevent distortion of these structural component parts caused by the welding process, one structural component part has at least one bevel which projects toward the connection side and can be pressed into at least one recess of the other structural component part during a capacitor impulse welding process, this recess substantially conforming to the bevel with respect to shape and dimensions.

    Abstract: A locking system for vehicular seats, in particular motor vehicle seats, is described and includes a rail (9), having a row of identically designed snap-in holes (11), which are separated by identically long, web-like material members (13), and a part having with a pair of bolts (1, 7), which can be moved relative to the rail. The bolts (1, 7) of the pair of bolts can be moved independently of each other at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the rail. In each position along the rail (9) at least one bolt (1, 7) can fall into a snap-in hole (11). One of the bolts (1) has a segment (3), which tapers away from the basic body (1') and includes an end which has a smaller cross section and which adjoins an end segment (5), that faces the rail. The largest width of the pair of bolts (1, 7) exceeds the length of the snap-in holes (11). The smallest distance between the bolts (1) and (7) is larger than the width of the web-like material parts (13).

    Abstract: An airplane passenger seat row is disclosed which comprises a seat frame, which is common to all seats and which includes cross members and feet that are fixed to said cross members. A section of the seat cushion carriers and a section of the backrests are designed as components which can be moved in at least two positions in the longitudinal direction of the cross members. A backrest of a center seat includes a center section located between two side sections. Each side section is assigned a locking mechanism, by means of which in the one position of the moveable components both side sections can be connected shape-lockingly to the center section, in order to form sections of the center seat, and in the second position the side sections can be connected shape-lockingly to the seats backrest which adjoin laterally the center seat, in order to form sections of both side seats.

    Abstract: A locking system for articulated fittings of car seats with a free-swivelling backrest. In particular, a wobble fitting is used with the articulated fitting and is made up of at least one notch, with which a pawl engages in a locking position, and a first clamping surface as the contact surface for an operating and safety element. The operating and safety element can be rotated around a swivel axis so as to increase the clamping force exerted on the pawl and is spring-loaded to secure the pawl in the locking position by using a second clamping surface, which rests without self-locking against the first clamping surface of the pawl. The operating and safety element includes a catch surface such that, when the pawl rests against the first clamping surface, it prevents the pawl from exerting an opening moment on the operating and safety element.

A diaphragm spring reacts against the shaft and urges the second leaf axially of the shaft against the first leaf, and a spur gear of the first leaf mates with an internal gear of the second leaf.

    Abstract: A hinge joint for use between the body supporting portion and the pivotable back rest of a seat has a first leaf which is affixed to the body supporting portion, a second leaf which is affixed to the back rest, and a pintle which pivotably connects the second leaf to the first leaf. In order to reduce friction during pivoting of the second leaf, the latter is provided with a sleeve-like central portion which is surrounded by an antifriction bearing installed in the cylindrical portion of a cupped motion transmitting member of the pintle. A smaller-diameter portion of the motion transmitting member is surrounded by two wedge-like arcuate sections which are biased by a torsion spring against a cylindrical internal surface of the first leaf to reduce radial play between the leaves. Friction between the external surfaces of the sections and the internal surface can be reduced by coating some or all of these surfaces with a lubricant.

The actuating mechanism for pivoting the second leaf comprises a pair of wedge-like sections which are biased apart to bear against the balls and/or needles of one or more antifriction bearings between the first leaf and the sections. The sections flank a motion transmitting member which is moved about the axis of the pintle in order to release the second leaf for angular movement relative to the first leaf. A centering element can be installed next to the sections between the first leaf and a sleeve of the second leaf, and the bearing or bearings can extend between such centering element and the first leaf.

The eccentric is assembled of two spring-biased arcuate mirror symmetrical sections and a sickle-shaped centering section. The other leaf is rotatably mounted on the pintle. When the pintle is rotated, an arm or a lobe of a motion transmitting member which is affixed to the pintle first disengages the two mirror symmetrical sections from the one leaf so that the one leaf is thereupon engaged only by the centering section while the teeth of an internal gear on one of the leaves roll along the teeth of a spur gear on the other of the leaves.

The two pivot arms (12,12') are formed to resist bending in the pivot direction but to bend elastically laterally thereto.
