  • Patent number: 4960461
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for extracting gold from gold ore. The apparatus and process save capital and operating costs in the extracting of gold from gold ore and include comminution and leaching of the ore, and more particularly the apparatus and process reduce the costs for the ore grinding, and make a fine ore grinding superfluous without having to accept a reduction in the gold yield during leaching. The gold ore is subjected to a product bed stressing and interparticle crushing in the nip of a high-pressure roller press before being leached and the product that has been product-bed-comminuted and subjected to interparticle crushing and the product agglomerates thereby formed are piled on a heap that is sprayed with a lixivium.

  • Patent number: 4832835
Abstract: A method and apparatus for treating minerals such as coal in a jig bed having a downwardly opening air chamber beneath the bed wherein the chamber has an air compartment at the upper end retaining a cushioned pillow of air between each jig pulsation with controlled air admitted and relieved from the chamber so that when air is relieved, the water rising in the chamber compresses the air at the upper end and a cushion of air is retained so that with admission of pressurized air, the cushion aids in forcing the column of water from the chamber, particularly at the beginning of operation of the jig.

  • Patent number: 4778219
Abstract: A jigging machine, particularly a movable sieve jigging machine, for the preseparation of deads from valuable material comprises an oscillatory jig bed in the housing filled with separating fluid and comprises deads and valuable material discharge devices located therein, as well as an oscillatory drive for the jig bed. The jigging machine is suitable for underground mining operations in that the outer dimensions of the jigging machine, with respect to the height and width theeof, are designed smaller than the tunnel cross-section of an underground mining operation. A relatively low structure is achieved by designing the housing as a flat trough towards a deads discharge end with the deads discharge being provided as a rising conveyor parallel to the bottom of the trough. Advantageously it is achieved that the quantity of deads to be conveyed is reduced and a considerable saving is provided in terms of energy and expense.

  • Patent number: 4712371
Abstract: A process and a device for starting a gas turbine such as a jet engine which contains a compressor, a turbine and a combustion chamber by means of hot exhaust gases from an exhaust gas source, wherein the energy of the exhaust gases is transferred at least partially to the gas turbine for the starting process. For this purpose the hot exhaust gases are used for simultaneously driving the turbine and for igniting the combustion in the combustion chamber. A single exhaust gas source can be used. In this manner, a large number of component parts are eliminated and the reliability of the starting process is considerably increased overall.

  • Patent number: 4711078
Abstract: The baler for crop material comprises an intake mechanism, a feed mechanism for transporting the crop material from the intake mechanism to a chamber for pressing and binding. Between the feed mechanism and the chamber for pressing and binding a bale separator is provided for the continuously supply of crop material attached to the housing of the baler outside of the feed path, which cuts away a bale by operation of a bale separator hydraulic cylinder and a slider hydraulic cylinder, after which the bale is bound, while additional crop materials are continuously fed into the baler. The process of our invention for making bales in a baler comprises continuously feeding crop material into the baler, which a bale cut away from those supplying crop material is separated therefrom, bound by cord, and ejected from the baler.

  • Patent number: 4694883
Abstract: An apparatus for producing a hollow foundry core, whereby core halves are first formed and fully hardened on an inner hollow-mold part and an outer mold-box half. These core halves are then sprayed with an adhesive and joined to form a finished foundry core. The apparatus reduces the production costs and improves the accuracy as to the size of the cores. The forming of the core halves on a center plate and the bringing together of the core halves respectively occurs by moving together both core-box halves in one operation.

  • Patent number: 4619605
Abstract: A method for the thermal treatment of mineral raw materials containing calcium carbonate and similar carbonates, particularly for the production of calcined products such as burnt lime, cement, magnesite, dolomite or the like wherein the raw material carriers of the calcium or other carbonate constituents are supplied to the calcining unit with a particle size of from 1 mm to 25 mm. The calcareous constituents are preferably supplied to the calcining unit with a particle size from 1 mm to 4 mm. To achieve this condition, the raw material containing the calcareous constituents is preferably pre-crushed to a particle size below 200 mm and pre-homogenized. It is then supplied to a drying comminution system connected to the calcining unit at the gas side and is suspended therein in direct heat exchange relationship with the gases. The material is preferably processed by means of single-stage crushing and grading to form the appropriate particle size.

  • Patent number: 4613344
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cleaning hot gases produced during a coal gasification process in a reactor, wherein the hot gases leaving the reactor are cooled in a plurality of cooling stages to a relatively low temperature. In accordance with this invention, a particulated solid is added to the hot gases and circulated through at least one of the cooling stages. The particulated solid may be a material which decomposes in the hot gases to liberate carbon dioxide or it may be inert. The apparatus of the invention makes use of a heat exchanger which functions as a radiant cooler and also as a mixer for the gases and solids, the heat exchanger being connected directly to the gasification reactor at the exhaust gas side thereof. The heat exchanger is followed by at least one downstream, multi-stage cyclone fluidized bed heat exchanger which also is provided with an indirect heat exchange capability.

  • Patent number: 4602746
Abstract: For cone crushers comprising an eccentrically-driven crushing cone, it is necessary to provide a labyrinth seal between the inwardly disposed eccentric drive and the crushing cone, the upper seal half thereof being connected to the crushing cone and the lower seal half thereof being connected to the eccentric drive. A new labyrinth seal is essentially distinguished in that helically extending fluids are provided on at least one wall of a cylindrical ring of the lower and/or upper seal half. It is thereby achieved that the slight air flow constantly emerge from the sealing gap and a penetration of dust into or, respectively, through the sealing gap is reliably prevented.
