Publication number: 20240263076Abstract: A liquid crystal composition contains a polymerizable organic compound and a liquid crystal compound. The liquid crystal compound has a solid phase-nematic phase transition temperature or smectic phase-nematic phase transition temperature of 0° C. or lower. The content of the polymerizable organic compound having a glass transition temperature of 0° C. or lower based on a total amount of the liquid crystal composition is 10 to 60 mass %. A liquid crystal element has a liquid crystal layer, and the liquid crystal layer contains such a liquid crystal composition.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 18, 2022Publication date: August 8, 2024Applicant: KYUSHU NANOTEC OPTICS CO., LTD.Inventor: Junichi BABA

Patent number: 11360358Abstract: A liquid crystal layer as a member of a liquid crystal element is disposed between a first resin film substrate and a second resin film substrate. A first/second conductive film is attached to one side of the first/second resin film substrate. A blade is inserted into the liquid crystal layer. The blade is moved while being inserted in the liquid crystal layer, thus making an incision in the liquid crystal layer. Then, the incision location is widened in the first resin film substrate and in the second resin film substrate, forming an opening in the surface of the liquid crystal layer. This also forms a space inside the liquid crystal layer, allowing the opening to communicate with the space. Part of an electrode is then inserted into the space of the liquid crystal layer and the liquid crystal layer is bonded with part of the electrode.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 2019Date of Patent: June 14, 2022Assignee: KYUSHU NANOTEC OPTICS CO., LTD.Inventor: Junichi Baba

Patent number: 9909357Abstract: A door (1) includes a tabular main body (2), a liquid crystal device (4) which is disposed in an aperture portion formed in the main body (2), a handheld portion (3A) which is attached to the main body (2), and a touch sensor (3) which is attached to the handheld portion (3A). Because the touch sensor (3) is attached to the handheld portion (3A), when a person's hand touches the handheld portion (3A), the touch sensor (3) senses the person's hand. The liquid crystal device (4) is capable of varying between an invisible state and a visible state reversibly, and is made into a visible state in the case where the touch sensor (3) senses a person's hand.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2014Date of Patent: March 6, 2018Assignees: KYUSHU NANOTEC OPTICS CO., LTD., NISSHO CORPORATIONInventors: Junichi Baba, Ariga Takahashi, Haruki Sato
