Abstract: A pourer-stopper consists of a one-piece moulding having a stoppering device and an integrally hinged cap provided with a spring blade which cooperates with a tongue on the stoppering device to cause the cap to spring from a partially open position to a fully open position; the blade obstructs free return of the cap from the fully open position regardless of the attitude of the device in pouring.

Abstract: A bottle stopper of generally biconical configuration consisting of two truncated conical sections abutting on their bases. The stopper is formed from foamed plastic with a dense outer layer enclosing a closed cellular or honeycomb structure around the center. The height of each truncated conical section is greater than the distance between the neck opening and zone of minimum diameter in conventional bottles and the diameter of the ends of the stopper is less than the diameter of neck opening. The stopper may also be formed with a generally barrel shaped configuration.

Abstract: A bottle cap comprises a sheet member having crown and skirt portions with a first plurality of perforations or indentations through the sheet member extending substantially around the skirt and a second plurality of perforations therethrough extending only part way around the skirt and defining, with perforations of the first plurality, at least one area on the member connected to the skirt both above and below the perforations of the first plurality by at least one bridge point between adjacent perforations.

Abstract: A bottle stoppering machine includes a travelling belt which carries the bottles to be stoppered, a stopper distributor positioned over the belt, and a stopper driver also positioned over the belt at a position downstream of the distributor. To adjust the vertical separation of the belt and distributor according to undesired variations in the height of the bottles, a first detector detects the approach of a bottle to the distributor, second and third detectors detect excess or deficiency in the height of the approaching bottle, and servo-mechanism controlled by these detectors raises or lowers the belt at the position beneath the distributor, or alternatively raises or lowers the distributor, in response to the signals of the detectors to match the separation of the belt and distributor at the distributor to the height of the bottle to be stoppered.

Abstract: A bottle cap comprises a cap member the lower end of whose skirt forms a ring detachable from the remainder of that member along a line of perforations, and a cylindrical skirt member which extends inside of and is fastened to that ring.
