  • Patent number: 8943864
Abstract: A system for securing a cam of a locking mechanism to a rotatable shaft, which comprises a cam for actuating a locking mechanism and a clutch that includes, in part, a sleeve body having a distal end affixed to a face of the cam and a sleeve bore having a tapered sleeve journal and a sleeve screw portion with internal threads opposite the sleeve journal. The clutch also includes a collet that is installed within the sleeve bore and which has a collet nut extending outwardly from a proximal end of the sleeve bore, a collet bore, and an outer surface having an axially-split and tapered collet journal abutting the sleeve journal and a collet screw portion with external threads engaged with the sleeve screw portion. The system further includes a rotatable shaft that is secured within the collet bore with a break-away torque that is proportional to an assembly torque applied to the collet nut.

  • Patent number: 8347665
Abstract: A self-balancing locking mechanism for actuating a locking pin-bar assembly of a door. The mechanism includes a drive shaft having an axis of rotation mounted to the door, and a cam mounted to the drive shaft. The mechanism also includes one or more actuator plates, each having a proximal end with a radial slot formed therein and installed about the drive shaft, and a distal end coupled to a locking pin-bar assembly that is slidably supported adjacent a perimeter of the door. The mechanism further includes one or more linkage bars, each having a proximal end pivotably coupled to the cam at a radial distance from the axis of rotation, and a distal end pivotably coupled to a mid-span of the actuator plate.

  • Patent number: 6843184
Abstract: A door bolt adjustment system for an open-jamb safe having a door jamb and a door bolt configured to extend behind the door jamb with a gap therebetween. The door bolt adjustment system generally comprises a substantially rigid door bolt adjuster, configured to be attached to the inside of the door jamb, and a displacement mechanism, configured to allow adjustment of the position of the door bolt adjuster so as to occupy the gap. The door bolt adjuster includes a flange for contacting a side of the extended safe door bolt, and when the adjuster occupies the gap, the flange is placed in position for secure contact with the extended door bolt, so as to accommodate the alignment of the door bolt.

  • Patent number: 6042207
Abstract: A reconfigurable interior structure for safes and the like includes a vertical divider supporting a reconfigurable rack having cut-out portions, the reconfigurable rack being alterable to appear and function as a solid continuous shelf by installation of removable cover plates which cover one or more of the cut-out portions and thus alter the configuration provided, additional alternative interior configurations being possible by selective addition or removal of removable shelves supported by the vertical divider.

  • Patent number: 5778708
Abstract: A door locking mechanism is disclosed including a door locking member in communication with a lock-actuated bolt which selectively allows rotation of a rotatable actuator plate member. The rotating actuator plate member is attached to a rotatable handle and to a plurality of actuator bars which move locking bolts so as to selectively prevent opening of the door. The rotatable actuator plate member enables all of the actuators to be moved from a single location so that a plurality of cams, etc., are not needed to move locking bolts positioned about the perimeter of the door between open and locking positions. In an additional aspect of the invention, horizontally extending actuator bars are adjustably attached to elongate locking bars having a plurality of locking bolts attached thereto, so as to enable assembly of the locking structures of the door locking mechanism without assembly, and to enable interchangeability of parts.
