Patent number: 4583573Abstract: A method of using a collection apparatus as well as the collection apparatus itself. The latter includes collection receptacles, a drip nozzle, and a component for bringing about a relative movement between the receptacles and the drip nozzle at predetermined times to collect the drops emitted by the drip nozzle, in the different receptacles. The time between the drops is measured by a time measurement circuit. The lower and the upper time limits for a time interval within which the next drop is expected, are calculated by a time limit calculating circuit. A blocking circuit is adapted to compare the time measured after the latest drop with the calculated time limits, and to block the relative movement when the measured time lies between these time limits. The blocking circuit is adapted to permit the relative movement when the expected drop has been emitted within the time limits.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1984Date of Patent: April 22, 1986Assignee: LKB-Produkter ABInventors: Rolf B. Patent number: 4532838Abstract: Method in a microtome, especially an ultramicrotome, in which a knife edge, turnable around its longitudinal axis, is used to cut sections from a specimen by making the specimen downwardly pass over the knife edge. The distance between the knife edge and the specimen before cutting is made extremely narrow without the specimen touching the knife. The slit is lit up from below by a light waveguide, one end of which is located under the knife edge and is turned with this and the other end of which is lit up by a light source movable in relation to the turning of the knife edge. The light from the waveguide is reflected against the surfaces of the knife as well as of the specimen which are turned towards the slit. The image of the knife surface reflected in the specimen surface, the size of which is proportional to the breadth of the slit, is viewed from at least one point located in a vertical plane outside of the vertical plane of the slit and on the same side of this as the knife.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1983Date of Patent: August 6, 1985Assignee: LKB-Produkter ABInventor: Anton Soderkvist

Patent number: 4243880Abstract: In an instrument for measuring radioactivity, the total measuring time for each sample is optimized by considering the maximum acceptable total counting error as well as the count rate. Each sample is counted for a period of time that is considerably shorter than the required measuring time but long enough to estimate the average pulse frequency, then the measuring time is determined as a function of the estimated pulse frequency and of the experimental error as determined by the channels ratio method.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1978Date of Patent: January 6, 1981Assignee: LKB-Produkter ABInventors: Roger P.
