Abstract: The programming techniques include the step of providing a memory device that includes a plurality of memory cells that are divided into at least two groups including a first group and a second group. The first group includes memory cells that are coupled to full select gate drains (SGDs), and the second group includes memory cells that are coupled to partial SGDs. The method continues with the step of applying a programming voltage to a selected word line that includes at least one memory cell of the first group and at least one memory cell of the second group. Simultaneous to the application of the programming voltage, the method continues with applying voltages to bit lines coupled to memory cells. The voltages being determined based on if the memory cells are of the first group or are of the second group.

Abstract: Apparatus, systems, and methods are used for activating a downhole tool, powered by an exothermic reaction, for operation, while deploying a tubing string from a wellbore surface. The tubing string comprises a coupling for enabling pressurized activation of the downhole tool, which comprises a fuel (e.g., thermite) for producing the exothermic reaction. The coupling enables fluid to flow into an interior of the coupling through a first flow passage, during descent of the downhole tool. A stopper is dropped and/or seated to cause the coupling interior to pressurize to an activation pressure, which causes an activator to activate a burn within the downhole tool. Once the downhole tool completes its operation, the coupling interior is further pressurized to burst a burst disc, which opens a second flow passage for fluid to flow from the interior to exterior of the coupling, while downhole tool and coupling are raised to the surface.

Abstract: An ice maker includes a refrigeration system, a water system, and a control system. The control system includes an air fitting disposed above the sump of the water system, a pneumatic tube, and a controller including a processor and an air pressure sensor. The air fitting defines a chamber in which air may be trapped and includes one or more openings through which water in the sump is in fluid communication with the air in the chamber. The pneumatic tube is in fluid communication with the air pressure sensor and the air fitting. The air pressure sensor is adapted to sense a pressure corresponding to a sump water level. The controller is adapted to control the operation of the refrigeration system and the operation of the water system based upon the sump water level. To avoid errors in water level measurements due to temperature changes, the system uses the pressure sensor data's noise level to detect when the water level reaches the bottom of the air fitting.

Abstract: Systems and methods herein automate detection of switched-capacitor bank operation on a power grid. At least one power line sensor (106) may be positioned on a power line to measure electric field strength and current. A processor may be in communication with the power line sensor and memory storing a capacitor bank analyzer as computer readable instructions that, when executed by the processor, control the processor to: receive electric field data and current data from the power line sensor. The processor may extract key characteristics from the electric field data and the current data, compare the key characteristics to a library of key characteristics of a predictive model, and output, based on the predictive model, a label indicating presence of, or lack of, a capacitor switching event. E-field and current data from multiple line sensors may be aggregated to provide additional insight to capacitor bank operation.

Abstract: Countermeasure method for programming a non-defective plane of a non-volatile memory experiencing a neighbor plane disturb, comprising, once a first plane is determined to have completed programming of a current state but where not all planes have completed the programming, a loop count is incremented and a determination is made as to whether the loop count exceeds a threshold. If so, programming of the incomplete plane(s) is ceased and programming of the completed plane(s) is resumed by suspending the loop count and bit scan mode, and, on a next program pulse, applying a pre-determined rollback voltage to decrement a program voltage bias. The loop count and bit scan mode are resumed once a threshold voltage level equals a program voltage bias when the loop count was last incremented. BSPF criterion is applied for each programmed state. Advancement to the next loop only occurs if a programmed state is determined incomplete.

Abstract: Innovations in control and use of chroma quantization parameter (“QP”) values that depend on luma QP values. More generally, the innovations relate to control and use of QP values for a secondary color component that depend on QP values for a primary color component. For example, during encoding, an encoder determines a QP index from a primary component QP and secondary component QP offset. The encoder maps the QP index to a secondary component QP, which has an extended range. The encoder outputs at least part of a bitstream including the encoded content. A corresponding decoder receives at least part of a bitstream including encoded content. During decoding, the decoder determines a QP index from a primary component QP and secondary component QP offset, then maps the QP index to a secondary component QP, which has an extended range.
