    Abstract: A dc-to-dc power converter for delivering continuous and controlled power to a load includes first and second controllable switching devices having a junction therebetween. Each of the first and second controllable switching devices include a parasitic gate to source capacitance, parasitic gate to drain capacitance, output capacitance and an intrinsic diode. First and second power supplies have a junction therebetween. A power transformer has a primary winding, a secondary winding and inductance in series with the primary winding. The secondary winding is connected to a rectifying circuit connected to the load to supply a controllable current to the load. The primary winding is connected between the junction between the first and second controllable switching devices and the junction between the first and second power supplies. A first drive circuit is connected to the first controllable switching device. A second drive circuit is connected to the second controllable switching device.

    Abstract: A dipole permanent magnet structure having a rectangular gap about a longitudinal axis, in which tapered pole pieces form opposing sides of the rectangular gap to permit establishing a magnetic field in the gap. Permanent magnets having a rectangular shape are coupled to the rear, or base, of each pole piece, and have a magnetic field oriented in the same direction as the pole pieces, perpendicular to longitudinal axis, thereby establishing a magnetic field between the pole pieces. Additional permanent magnets, including a pair of blocking magnets, are coupled to the aforementioned permanent magnets to form a magnetic circuit. The orientation of the magnetic field of each permanent magnet is generally aligned in the direction of the lines of flux in the magnetic circuit to maximize the flux density within the air gap created by formation of the permanent magnets. Moreover, the pair of blocking magnets each form an opposing side of the rectangular gap adjacent to the pole pieces to prevent fringing.

    Abstract: A d-c electromagnetic relay, designed to open or close a circuit when a current through its exiting coils is either caused to flow or interrupted, and in some applications merely varied in magnitude. It consists of a square or rectangular coil(s) of conducting wire wound around a non-magnetic spool mounted on a "J" shaped magnetic yoke-core which in turn supports an "L" shaped armature attached to the shorter leg of the yoke at a given angle and thereby creating two non-parallel surfaces at the boundaries of the working air gap forming an open "V" at an angle that corresponds to the degree angle formed by the longer leg of the armature in relationship to the top surface of the shorter leg of the yoke, by means of a flat piece of phosphor bronze or the like designed integrally as a leaf spring spring to provide the necessary contact pressure in the open as well as in the closed position, and contact deflection and follow-through, and which is extended to accept the contact point(s).
