Abstract: An apparatus includes a memorial structure and a readable code. The memorial structure is associated with a deceased individual. The readable code is operable to provide information relating to the geographical location of the deceased individual.

Abstract: A user interface is presented to a remote user via a network, such as through a computer. A preview command is received from the user. A scanning process (e.g., scanning multiple photographs simultaneously) is initiated at a scanner coupled with the user's computer, in response to receiving the preview command. The act of initiating is performed from a location remote from the user. A single scanned image is obtained through the scanner. A plurality of crop selections are received from the user, all of which are made within the single scanned image. Several regions within multiple scanned photographs may be selected for cropping. A plurality of image files are created based on the crop selections. The plurality of image files may be created in response to the user clicking just once on a button presented by the user interface.

Abstract: An apparatus comprises a concrete good and an identifier. The concrete good includes information relating to a particular person, such as a deceased person. The identifier is on or near the concrete good and indicates that additional information relating to the particular person is available online. The identifier may be configured to provide automatic acquisition of the additional information available online in response to scanning the identifier. For instance, the identifier may include a bar code or some other kind of identifier.

Abstract: A method and system for creating a commemorative presentation. The subject of the commemoration can take a variety of forms, including living or deceased individuals, organizations, entities, companies, cities, and the like. A plurality of images are compiled related to the subject. Configuration data is created relating to the display of the plurality of images. The plurality of images and configuration data are stored in a database. A video is dynamically created by accessing the plurality of images and configuration data stored in the datastore and sequentially displaying the plurality of images stored in the datastore in conformance with the configuration data stored in the datastore. While the invention has utility in a number of different applications, one particularly well suited application is in the death care industry for creating commemorative videos for the recently deceased.

Abstract: An image submission system comprises a server, a client, and a scanner. A scanner interface software module is loaded on the client for operating the scanner. An image submission software module loaded on the server remotely receives instructions through an Internet browser at the client, and presents a single click interface feature operable to receive a single click input by the user at the client, via the Internet browser. A control software module loaded on the client is in communication with the image submission software module, and is operative to direct the scanner interface software module to scan an image on the scanner and upload the scanned image to the remote server in response to a single click input by the user via the single click interface feature. A user may thus have an image both scanned an uploaded to a server, in response the same single click.

Abstract: An interactive user interface on a computer system for presenting information about a deceased person comprises a viewable screen image. A plurality of types of life related recordations are associated with a time during the person's life. The user interface further includes a plurality of selection options. Each of the selection options corresponds to at least one type of recordation. The viewable screen image also presents an interactive timeline that is operable to effect a selection of time. The timeline is associated with at least a portion of the plurality of recordations such that when a specific time is selected the user interface presents one or more recordations that correspond to the selected time. The interface may also include a historical information feature that is operable to provide historical information relating to times during the deceased person's life, with the historical information being independent of the deceased person.

Abstract: A method of archiving recordations includes providing a storage device in communication with a network. A plurality of recordations are received from a first user, and relate to a specific person. The plurality of recordations include medical records, and are transmitted from the first user via the network from a first remote computer. The recordations are stored on the storage device. A second user is given access to at least a portion of the stored recordations through a second remote computer via the network. A method may also include receiving hard copies of medical records from a customer. The hard copies may be digitized, which may include scanning the hard copies or copying information from the medical records onto a computer in communication with the storage device. The hard copies may be returned to the customer, along with the digitized medical records in a computer readable form.

Abstract: Embodiments of an on-line registry system comprise information relating to a plurality of deceased persons and a web based interface. Subscribers associated with a deceased person may establish an account for the on-line registry system. Each subscriber may be associated with a unique identification. A subscriber may submit information relating to the deceased person, which may be entered into the on-line registry system. A plurality of additional persons may be permitted to access at least a portion of the entered information via the web based interface. The additional persons may also be permitted to submit additional information related to the deceased person into the on-line registry system via the web based interface. An identifier may be provided on or near a good or concrete memorial, such as a headstone, to indicate that a deceased person is associated with the on-line registry system.

Abstract: The user interface on a computer system displays information about an entity, such as a person, a business, a pet, a country, etc. The screen is associated with the entity. A plurality of recordations are associated with the entity. The recordations are of at least two different types and are associated with the period of time. A plurality of selection mechanisms are on the screen. Each of the selection mechanisms are associated with at least one type of recordation. A time selection mechanism is adapted for selecting a period of time. The time selection mechanism is associated with at least a portion of the plurality of recordations and is operative to present one or more recordations which correspond with the selected period of time. The user interface can be accessed over a computer, either as a stand-alone or over a network, whereas on a memorial such as in a headstone.

Abstract: Methods of providing a registry service and a registry service are provided. A remote storage location houses information regarding an entity or an event, and from time to time the remote storage location receives information regarding the entity or the event. Further, a string associated with a good identifies the storage location, whereupon remote access to the storage location may be achieved, if a proper access level is present. Moreover, a registry service includes an identifying string located on a good along with a tag that uniquely identifies an entity or an event. The service controls storage, which is logically segmented and associated with the tag, and an access set of executable instructions is operable to provide remote access to the logically segmented storage using identifying information to determine the tag. Information regarding the entity and event may also be warehoused such that specific data regarding the entity or event is retrievable remotely upon a request.
