Abstract: A system and method is disclosed employing a full thickness skin model for determining minimum sun protection factors (SPFs) of various sunscreen formulations by measuring the release of an inflammatory mediator in the skin model.

Abstract: A skin-conditioning composition is disclosed which can be applied topically to improve skin cell renewal rates with low irritation levels and comprises minor proportions of a salicylic acid and a somewhat hydrophobic alpha hydroxy aliphatic acid formulated into an acidic cosmetic composition, optionally with an anti-irritant or anti-oxidant additive. Preferred acids are salicylic and lactic and appropriate compositions are also useful topical treatments for the scalp to reduce hair loss.
Abstract: Cosmetic formulations comprising mixtures of a polysiloxane having a viscosity at 25.degree. C. of from about 500 centistokes to about 1500 centistokes, cosmetic grade lanolin oil, lanolin wax, a gelling agent, hydrocarbon-derived polymers such as polybutene or ethylene vinyl acetate, or mixtures thereof, and a dry color mix are disclosed. The dry color mix may comprise an inorganic pigment, mixtures of inorganic pigments or a mixture of inorganic pigments and a pearling agents.

Abstract: A cosmetic demonstrator comprising a substantially conical container having cylindrical sidewalls with first and second ends connected thereto wherein the first end contains a concave depression for storing the cosmetic and the second end contains a central opening extending throughout the container and defined by the cylindrical sidewalls and the first end thereof, for allowing manipulation of the container. Additionally, the containers are stackable, disposable and utilized in a one-time application.
