Patent number: 7059110Abstract: A device for the manufacture of a spun thread from a fiber sliver includes a fiber conveying channel with a fiber guidance surface. A yarn guidance channel includes an inlet mouth aperture disposed such that the fiber guidance surface guides fibers to the inlet mouth aperture. A fluid generating device creates eddy currents around the inlet mouth aperture to incorporate individual fibers into an end of a yarn being formed in the yarn guidance channel. The fiber guidance surface includes a fiber delivery edge having a shape and disposed relative to the inlet mouth aperture such that the fibers are guided over the delivery edge and conveyed to the inlet mouth aperture in an aligned generally flat planar formation.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2001Date of Patent: June 13, 2006Assignee: Maschinenfabrik Rieter AGInventors: Peter Anderegg, Herbert Stalder

Patent number: 7051508Abstract: A yarn withdrawal device for open-end spinning arrangements has a yarn withdrawal nozzle and a balloon-breaking insert which extends the axial channel of the yarn withdrawal nozzle. The yarn withdrawal nozzle has a curved contact surface for deflecting a yarn to be withdrawn and simultaneously rotating the yarn in a crank-like manner, which contact surface graduates from a front surface into the axial channel. The balloon-breaking insert has an inner wall which is provided with raised areas and/or recesses, with which the yarn comes into contact. The contact surface of the yarn withdrawal nozzle is a smooth steel surface. The raised areas and/or the recesses of the balloon breaking insert are such that a yarn hairiness in the range of 3 mm in length is achievable. In addition, values in relation to the spinning stability, tear resistance and evenness can be achieved which are usual in the case of a notched contact surface of standard yarn withdrawal nozzles without a balloon-breaking insert.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2004Date of Patent: May 30, 2006Assignee: Maschinenfabrik Rieter AGInventors: Gerd Stahlecker, Guenter Baur

Patent number: 7043893Abstract: To manufacture a spun yarn from a loose fiber structure, devices are used in which a swirl chamber is provided between a fiber delivery channel and a yarn extraction channel. A fluid is blown into the swirl chamber. This device exhibits in the swirl chamber a guide surface, which delimits the swirl chamber downstream for the purpose of guiding fibers or fiber sectors that are swirling in the swirl chamber, the surface extending in collar fashion around the inlet aperture of the yarn extraction channel. The guide surface may form an angle of at least 30° with the axis of the yarn extraction channel in the yarn extraction direction, and outer areas of this guide surface are at a distance interval from the inlet aperture of the yarn extraction channel that corresponds to at least one tenth of the effective staple length of the fibers that are to be processed.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2002Date of Patent: May 16, 2006Assignee: Maschinenfabrik Rieter AGInventors: Herbert Stalder, Peter Anderegg

Patent number: 7043894Abstract: For an air spinning frame, reluctance motors are provided for each spinning place to drive the pairs of rollers of the drafting unit, the drawing-off means, and the friction roller. Thereby, for the run-up of a spinning place, e.g., after a thread break, a specific frequency converter is provided. After reaching the stationary operating speed, a switch over onto a further frequency converter takes place, at which time, the corresponding reluctance motors of the other spinning places are driven in parallel. By the use of reluctance motors it can be done without a complex speed regulation means. A specific dimensioning of the reluctance motors permits a very fast run-up and a particularly good efficiency during the stationary operation.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2003Date of Patent: May 16, 2006Assignee: Maschinenfabrik Rieter AGInventors: Oliver Wuest, Wolf Horst

Patent number: 6983519Abstract: In a texturing system with a texturing nozzle and a first drum (22) connected thereto and a further drum (23), a thread is guided on the outlet side of a texturing nozzle (10) at the circumference of a drum (22) in the form of a strip (1?) by friction and at least in part in positive manner, so that the longitudinal speed of the strip (1) at the circumference of the drum (22) corresponds with the circumferential speed of the drum in the area of the guide (220), whereby, by means of a pressure difference in an air guidance system, the effect is achieved by pressing the strip (1?) onto the surface of the drum (22). Further, the thread is guided in relation to its conveying speed and packing density, by positive and friction guidance under the imposition of air, as far as an outlet point on the first drum, and is transfered onto a second drum (23), on which the strip is cooled, extended if appropriate, and passed on to further guide or conveying rollers (22?) respectively.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2003Date of Patent: January 10, 2006Assignee: Maschinenfabrik Rieter AGInventor: Armin Wirz

Patent number: 6962307Abstract: The invention relates to a method for changing the winding-off direction of reels (W,W1) which are delivered in succession by a delivery station (1) in order to form a reel group (WG) in which the front faces of adjacent reels (W) are equally spaced (a) and the longitudinal axes (LA) of the reels (W) are in a line. In practice, it is sometimes necessary to arrange the preparation machine for producing a reel (W) in such a way in relation to the combing machine group being used that the reels that are delivered by the preparation machine have a different winding-off direction in the ejected winding-off direction to that necessary for the subsequent combing machine. It is therefore necessary to rotate the reels (e.g. 90° or 180°) while preserving the division of the reel group.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 1999Date of Patent: November 8, 2005Assignee: Maschinenfabrik Rieter AGInventor: Paul Scheurer

Patent number: 6959532Abstract: The invention concerns a start of spinning or the method of piecing for spinning positions of air spinning frames, which, during a spinning process, produce a thread from a longitudinal fiber structure and which, for this, comprise a fineness influencing unit with parts drivable at the inlet side and part drivable at the outlet side with clamping points, a means for the air twist generation and a means for the thread take-off, whereby, after an interruption of the spinning process, the resumption of the production of the thread comprises the following steps. In particular, the method does provide for, that the start-up of the part of the drafting unit, driven at the outlet side, takes place with a subsequent time coordinated and delayed start-up of the part driven at the inlet side, in such a manner that the end portions of the torn longitudinal fiber structure and of the thread end overlap and pass, in overlapping condition, the clamping point of the part driven at the outlet side.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2003Date of Patent: November 1, 2005Assignee: Maschinenfabrik Rieter AGInventors: Olivier Wüst, Herbert Stalder

Patent number: 6948303Abstract: A process is disclosed for a spinning arrangement for dealing with the correction of an end break. During operation, sliver-like fiber material fed to the spinning arrangement is opened to single fibers by means of an opening roller. The single fibers are then transferred in the form of a fiber veil to a suctioned collecting surface, which is driven in the direction of motion of the single fibers. During the transport of the fibers by means of the collecting surface, the fiber veil is condensed to a narrow fiber strand and the condensed fiber strand is spun to a yarn downstream of a nipping line by means of a twisting nozzle. When an end-break occurs, the material feed is interrupted and the fiber strand is suctioned in the area of the nipping line until the collecting surface is free from single fibers. A piecing operation subsequently takes place.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2004Date of Patent: September 27, 2005Assignee: Maschinenfabrik Rieter AGInventor: Fritz Stahlecker
