  • Patent number: 5160804
Abstract: The present invention pertains to fin-stabilized projectile ammunition, in which fin-stabilized projectiles are arranged in a cartridge case filled with propellant charge powder. According to the present invention, the spaces between the fins of the tail plane (4) of the fin-stabilized projectile (13) are filled with prefabricated shaped bodies (7) made from propellant charge powders. These shaped bodies in the ammunition are adjacent to the propellant charge powder in the cartridge case, and permit optimal utilization of the free space between the tail plane fins (20) of the projectiles being filled with high-energy propellant charge. Furthermore, the shaped bodies according to the present invention prevent corrosion of the tail plane fins during the burning off of the ammunition, and facilitate the manufacture of the ammunition.

  • Patent number: 5129325
Abstract: There is proposed an ejector device (6) for grenade projector or mortar projectiles (1), which permits simulation of mortar firing even in halls or very limited areas. It is known that blank cartridges (17) for rifles, pistols or bolt firing devices have only a slight degree of scatter in terms of gas pressure. Therefore the ejection speed of a piston (13) which is inserted into the ejector device (6) and which is driven by the powder propellent gases of the blank cartridge (17) is always the same. In that way it is always possible to achieve the same firing ranges of only a few meters.

  • Patent number: 5109748
Abstract: To reduce the concentration of the gases generated during firing in a combat space behind a gun barrel, a smoke exhaust device (8) is arranged in a middle zone of the gun barrel (7). This smoke ehaust device (8) is joined to the gun barrel (7) in a gas-tight manner in the outward direction and is connected, in the inward direction, to the caliber bore (5) of the gun barrel (7) via an obliquely extending blow-off bore (3) and via Y-shaped valve bores (2). Pressure is admitted into the valve bores (2) through a check valve (6) made in the form of an assembly of layered leaf springs. Good filling of the smoke exhaust device with gases generated during firing is thus possible along with very rapid closing of the check valve, which is decisive for the desired long blow-off time of the gases through the blow-off bore (3).

  • Patent number: 5068653
Abstract: A capacitance length and/or angle measuring device has a transducer comprising a stationary part (1) forming a scale and a part (2) displaceable parallel over the surface of the scale, at a short distance therefrom and acting as a sensing unit. The opposite surfaces of the scale and sensing unit are provided with capacitor coatings (5,6,7,8,9). The mechanical quantity to be measured causes an area vibration of a capacitor, the capacitance variation resulting therefrom acting as a variable capacitive reactance in a circuit, which changes the phase position of the electrical signals. With an appropriate configuration of the capacitor surfaces one obtains a linear function between the mechanical quantity to be measured and the phase portion of the signals.

  • Patent number: 5065524
Abstract: The device for measuring the internal diameter of tubes 2 consisting of two interconnected measuring units 3 and 4 that are connected to one another. The first measuring unit 3 is formed by a measuring head 9 in conjunction with a displacement transducer 7, which is axially displaceable within a tube 2. The axial displacement of the measuring head 9 is determined by a length measuring device consisting of a friction wheel 25 associated with a rotation transducer. To achieve this, the friction wheel is in functional connection with a flexible tube 24 which is rigidly connected to the measuring head 9. Thus, this measuring device makes it possible to determine internal diameters at two positions located at axially spaced locations from one another in a tube 2.

  • Patent number: 5058483
Abstract: A cartridge feed mechanism of an automatic firearm is mounted pivotably on a drive housing. In the pivoted-up position, a coupling tongue 15 of the transmission shaft 9 of the cartridge feed mechanism engages with a coupling groove of a drive sleeve of the drive housing. The coupling tongue shall be prevented from rotating when the cartridge feed mechanism is pivoted down from the drive housing. For this purpose, a slide 16, which locks the transmission shaft 9 in a locking position and releases it in a releasing position, is mounted on the cartridge feed mechanism. Slide 16 is pressed by the drive housing into its releasing position when the cartridge feed mechanism is in the pivoted-up position. In the pivoted-down position of the cartridge feed mechanism, it is brought into its locking position by a compression spring.

  • Patent number: 4924614
Abstract: The invention discloses a gun barrel with a novel pattern of a rifling curve. The latter proceeds at start of motion from the parabolic curve y=A+Bx+Cx.sup.2 and is supplemented with a constant D, to which is added a freely selectable exponent =d. Due to the freely selected exponent as parameter the ridge force maximum can be displaced at almost equal level between the start of motion and the barrel mouth. At the barrel mouth the ridge force drops to a minimum.

  • Patent number: 4882974
Abstract: A method for increasing the hitting probability of multi-barreled machine weapons, especially for four-gun or gatling-type weapon systems. Through a spreading apart of the middle of hitting point locations of the individual weapon barrels, there can be achieved an improvement in the characteristics of the firing spread. This is attained in that the middle hitting point location of the individual weapon barrels is spread apart in such a manner about the middle hitting point location of all of weapon barrels of a weapon system, that the density of hits remains almost constant at a restrictedly increasing deviation from the middle of the hitting point location of all the weapon barrels. The middle hitting point location of the individual weapon barrels can be spread apart by the amount of the average standard deviation of the diring spread of the individual weapon barrels from the middle hitting point location of all weapon barrels of a weapon system.

  • Patent number: 4876943
Abstract: To permit single firing in a machine gun by a mechanical method, a trip lever is moved by a control surface attached to the weapon housing during the weapon recoil after triggering a shot. This motion causes the trip lever to disengage a coupling on the crankshaft. Because of this, the trigger plate can return to its starting position by means of spring force, independently of the position of the cocking lever. The recoil breech can then be caught by the trigger in the weapon housing. If the cocking lever is moved back, it again couples because of the spring.
