  • Patent number: 5909289
Abstract: The present invention provides a facsimile apparatus and controlling method, in which a confidential box number for PC transmission function for sending received information to a personal computer (15) is preliminarily registered. When a facsimile correspondence accompanying the confidential box number for PC transmission function is received, a control section (1) sends out the received information to an interface (10). Thus, the facsimile apparatus can distinguish information to be destined for the personal computer (15) from other received information to automatically send the information to the personal computer (15) by utilizing a confidential communication function thereof.

  • Patent number: 5905926
Abstract: An image forming apparatus of this invention is constructed such that a main base frame constituting the apparatus is formed with a pair of first positioning pins. An attachment member is formed with a pair of second positioning pins and positioning holes for fittingly receiving the first positioning pins therein to position the attachment member relative to the main base frame. A brake force supplier formed with mounting holes is attached to the attachment member while positioned relative thereto by fitting insertion of the second positioning pins in the mounting holes. When the attachment member is not used, another brake force supplier can be directly mounted on the main base frame and positioned relative thereto by fitting insertion of the first positioning pins in mounting holes of the brake force supplier.

  • Patent number: 5901950
Abstract: A helical gear connected to a lower discharge roller is made movable in its axial direction toward a bracket when a stepping motor is activated. A friction pad formed from felt or sponge rubber, for example, is attached to a side surface of the helical gear that is located face to face with the bracket. When the stepping motor is energized, the helical gear shifts toward the friction pad and the side surface of the helical gear comes in sliding contact with the friction pad. Resultant frictional resistance produces a braking force which acts on the rotating lower discharge roller. An overrun of the lower discharge roller due to a backlash between engaging gears is prevented even when an upper transfer roller exerts a forward-pushing force on a rear end of a sheet of an original document.

  • Patent number: 5897113
Abstract: An automatic document feeder according to the present invention is mountable on a copying machine. The automatic document feeder mounted on the copying machine is displaceable to a closed state and an open state with respect to the copying machine. In the closed state, originals can be automatically set on the copying machine by the automatic document feeder. When the originals are manually set on the copying machine, the automatic document feeder is brought into the open state. A tray 11 provided in the automatic document feeder is divided into a main tray 61 and a sub tray 62. The main tray 61 and the sub tray 62 are so connected to each other that their connected state is changeable to an extending state or a contracted state. When the automatic document feeder is brought into the open state, the connected state between the main tray 61 and the sub tray 62 is automatically brought into the contracted state.

  • Patent number: 5893659
Abstract: This invention relates to an image forming apparatus with a transfer unit for transferring toner electrically to an electrostatic latent image formed on a photoreceptor onto a copy sheet. The image forming apparatus has a transfer electrode charge supply means for supplying electric charges to a transfer electrode provided in the transfer unit to electrically attract the toner onto the copy sheet and control means for controlling the quantity of electric charges to be supplied to the photoreceptor via the transfer electrode from the transfer electrode charge supply means based on a photoreceptor inflow current flowing to the photoreceptor through the charge send/receive means and on a photoreceptor outflow current flowing out from the photoreceptor through a ground wire connecting the photoreceptor and the ground. The charge send/receive means, other than the transfer unit, sends and receives electric charges to and from the photoreceptor.

  • Patent number: 5893010
Abstract: A toner density controlling apparatus adapted to control toner density by sensing a T/D level in a developer vessel by using a toner sensor performs a toner density controlling operation on the basis of an output of the toner sensor while maintaining an input control voltage to be applied to the toner sensor at a predetermined level in a definite control range where the toner sensor output decreases proportionally to the T/D level in a linear relation. Conversely, in an indefinite control range where the relationship between the toner sensor output and the T/D level is nonlinear, the input control voltage to be applied to the toner sensor is variably controlled so that the toner sensor output can be adjusted to an upper or lower limit level of the definite control range, and the toner density controlling operation is performed on the basis of the input control voltage.

  • Patent number: 5889928
Abstract: Method of automating at least a portion of an output gradation adjustment job for an image output apparatus. Test image data are corrected according to an initial gradation correction curve, and a test image is formed according to the image data thus corrected. The test image is read by a scanner to obtain read data. Based on the read data thus obtained, test image data are newly formed. Based on the newly formed test image data, a test image is again formed. The second-time test image thus formed is read by the scanner to obtain read data. Based on the read data obtained by reading the second-time test image, the initial gradation correction curve and a predetermined reference output curve, candidate point data are obtained. Based on the candidate point data, a gradation correction curve is formed and set.
