Abstract: An image display apparatus has a control circuit that periodically varies a characteristic, such as an amplitude characteristic or timing characteristic, of the displayed image signal. Periodic variations may be produced by passing the image signal through a variable inductance element, for example, or by alternately selecting two amplifier circuits with different gain characteristics, or by periodically delaying the image signal. The periodic variations reduce peaks in the spectrum of unintended radiation emissions, and suppress undesired moire patterns in the displayed image.
Abstract: An optical amplifier includes a plurality of pump light sources, an intensity modulator that modulates intensity of a pump light to be output from any one of the pump light sources, at a predetermined frequency; a photoelectric converter that converts a part of the wavelength-division multiplexed signal light Raman-amplified by the pump light to electrical signals; a gain modulation signal detector that extracts a gain modulation signal having a component of the frequency from the electrical signals; and a controller that controls only the intensity of pump lights that are output from the pump light source, of which intensity is modulated at the frequency to control Raman amplification gain so that an amplitude of the gain modulation signal becomes a predetermined value. The intensities of pump lights output from individual pump light sources are sequentially controlled to obtain a predetermined value of the Raman amplification gain.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a magnetic head core of a complex magnetic head includes binding a first core material of a U-shaped cross section and a second core material of a flat plate shape to form a tubular core material having two bonded portions between the first and second core materials. Then a plurality of grooves are formed in the tubular core material across one of the bonded portions to form a plurality of track surfaces. The grooves are then filled with a fused glass material, and the other of the bonded portions is removed to form a substantially U-shaped core block having a plurality of track surfaces separated by the glass-filled grooves. The U-shaped core block is then sliced along each of the grooves to obtain a plurality of magnetic head cores. A complex magnetic head manufactured by the method is also disclosed.

The attributes of roads entering the target intersection at the target geographical point are determined, display data stored in the display data base corresponding to the attributes of the determined roads are acquired and named intersections at the target geographical point are displayed based on acquired display data. In this way, it is easy for the user to understand named intersections of the expressway.
Abstract: A closed-loop feedback control system is disclosed for controlling an operation of a load. An actual operation signal is subtracted from a reference operation signal to produce a resultant signal which is used to control the operation of the load. A filter unit, such as a notch filter, operates to suppress any machine resonance frequencies found in the operation signal due to load fluctuations, machine variations, operating environment changes, deterioration with age, etc. A filter coefficient of the filter unit is adjusted so that any fluctuation in the resonance frequency can be suppressed effectively.
Abstract: In the conventional image memory diagnosis, diagnosis data is written in the image memory for a comparison between the data read out of the image memory and the diagnosis data. All the address and control signals for the image memory are output by the system. By contrast, according to the invention, the display control signal output by the CRT controller is converted into address and control signals for the image memory, thus not only increasing the process speed but also reducing the system load.

A data unit, a register file, and a carry bit are shared such that the command and function units operate in parallel without any conflict. A priority scoreboard is provided to control the register file so that the command units operate independently according to the parallelism of a program, and detect and avoid a contention for a register according to the order of priority, making simultaneous execution of a plurality of commands possible, resulting in the increased process speed.
Abstract: An apparatus for and method of automatically tuning control parameters of a servo or spindle drive system controlled by a numerical control unit is disclosed. The numerical control unit employs an automatic tuning device that automatically selects a tuning program and test run program associated with a selected control parameter. The tuning device test runs the servo or spindle according to the test run program selected and changes and controls the status value data measured in accordance with the control parameter selected. The invention also relates to a method of changing a criterion for the feature values of a control parameter, a method of comprehensively determining the feature values where there are a plurality of tuning conditions, and a method of sampling the status value data of the servo or spindle.
Abstract: A controller base unit for a DIN-standard installation wherein a molded base is provided with an internal chassis for support and a contour that permits the direct and releasable attachment of the unit to a DIN rail via a plurality of hooks that are simultaneously moveable between an engaged and non-engaged position. The base is provided with a recess in a planar face thereof for accommodating a printed circuit board and has fixed tabs along the periphery of the recess. The circuit board has cut-outs that mate with the tabs for insertion of the board into the recess and is slidable laterally into a position where the tabs secure the board against the surface of the recess and a screw or the like can secure the board against further lateral movement. The board has at both ends thereof a pair of connectors that are connectable with either end of a separate similarly designed board via a cable.

Abstract: A pulsed arc welding for carrying out arc welding or short-circuit transfer type arc welding by utilizing the pulsed discharge generated at the tip of a wire electrode. The propensity of wire electrode curvature causes irregular changes in the contact point of the wire electrode and variations in the arc length between the wire electrode tip and workpieces. Consequently, the invention detects arc voltage and current and checks the instantaneous variation in the arc length. The arc voltage value thus detected is converted to a reference arc voltage variable. Then the detected arc voltage value is compared with the reference value to compute a true arc length. A simulation arc length signal, which varies as welding proceeds, and a reference simulation welding current waveform are set, to compare the simulation arc length signal with the computed arc length signal.
Abstract: A superconductive magnet device includes a superconductive magnet body and non-magnetic pipes made of a transparent non-magnetic material. Preferably, the magnetic shims for compensating for the inhomogeneous magnetic field components generated by the superconductive magnet body are colored in accordance with the kinds thereof. Thus, during the adjustment operation of the inhomogeneous magnetic field, the number, kinds, and the position of the magnetic shims within the non-magnetic pipes can be ascertained from without.

Abstract: A three-dimensional model displaying method of displaying on a display screen a three-dimensional model expressed in a computer in the field of CAD or CAM. The quadrangular patches of the upper interface of a three-dimensional model is approximated with rectangular regions along the x-axis and y-axis of a two-dimensional coordinate system on the display screen. Accordingly, it is unnecessary to perform the operation of painting quadrangles irregular in configuration, and therefore the patch painting process can be achieved at high speed and with high accuracy.
