    Abstract: A methacrylimide containing polymer, which is a thermoplastic polymer comprising from 2 to 100% by weight of a structural unit represented by the general formula (I): ##STR1## where R represents a hydrogen atom or an aliphatic group, aromatic group or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon group with 1 to 20 carbon atoms, and from 0 to 98% by weight of a structural unit derived from an ethylenic monomer, in which a distribution range of an imidization radio of the polymer is less than 5%. The methacrylimide containing polymer has excellent transparency and heat resistance.

    Abstract: A process for producing a low gloss thermoplastic resin which comprises polymerizing in two steps from 20 to 70 parts by weight of a butadiene polymer, at least 70% by weight of which is constituted by butadiene, with from 30 to 80 parts by weight of a total of from 15 to 40% by weight of a vinyl cyanide monomer and from 60 to 85% by weight of an aromatic vinyl monomer, characterized in that for the polymerization of the first step, the butadiene polymer, the vinyl cyanide monomer and the aromatic vinyl monomer were charged in amounts corresponding to from 20 to 80% by weight of the entire butadiene polymer, from 20 to 80% by weight of the entire vinyl cyanide monomer and from 20 to 80% by weight of the entire aromatic vinyl monomer, respectively, and after the completion of the polymerization of the first step, the rest of the butadiene polymer, the vinyl cyanide monomer and the aromatic vinyl monomer were charged for the polymerization of the second step.

    Abstract: Methacrylimide-containing polymers are continuously produced by introducing 10 to 60 wt. % of an inert solvent, 90 to 40 wt. % of methacrylic acid, a methacrylic acid ester or a monomer mixture comprising at least 50 wt. % of methacrylic acid or a methacrylic acid ester, and a radical polymerization initiator and a molecular weight modifier into a polymerization reaction zone, converting at least 80 wt. % of the charged monomer to a polymer at 60.degree.-170.degree. C., adding a compound represented by the formula:R--NH.sub.2wherein R represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1-12 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group having 7-11 carbon atoms or an aryl group having 6-10 carbon atoms,to the polymerization reaction liquid, carrying out reaction of the resulting mixture at 150.degree. to 300.degree. C. in an imidization reaction zone, and finally separating volatile substances from the reaction fluid.

    Abstract: Apparatus for stirring hydrogel particles of a water-soluble polymer made as a tank defined by a drum within which is housed an inner drum. Water-soluble polymers are introduced through a top opening in the tank into an annular space defined by the inner wall surfaces of the tank and the outer wall surfaces of the inner drum. The water-soluble polymer contents in the annular space are stirred by vanes mounted on a corresponding vertically disposed driven arms. The vanes have leading surfaces advanced in different circular paths within the annular space. One of the vane stirring arms and vane thereon is disposed to travel along a circular path in the vicinity of the inner surfaces of the tank and the other stirring arm vane and corresponding vane are advanced along a circular path in the vicinity of the outer wall surfaces of the inner drum.
