  • Publication number: 20170181370
Abstract: A double shoot dispensing system including a shank for opening a treatment trench, a seed shovel for creating left and right seed shelves above and on opposite sides of the treatment trench, and a two-piece boot body having a plurality of internal passages defined by assembled left and right halves of the body. A first passage directs the seeds onto the seed shelves, a second passage directs a granular fertilizer treatment into the treatment trench, and first and second tube passages receive first and second tubes delivering additional treatments into the treatment trench. Left and right ducts branch from the first passage so as to guide the deposit of the seeds. The body is constructed of a material having a relatively low mass and a relatively low coefficient of friction, such as polyurethane, polyethylene, nylon, or polyacetal, and is externally shaped so as to taper in a direction of travel.

  • Publication number: 20160362036
Abstract: A vehicle includes a frame, a plurality of tanks supported on the frame and housing particulate, an unloading system, a lifting mechanism, and a positioning system. The unloading system includes a plurality of individual carriers, each of which corresponds to one or more of the tanks. Each of the carriers defines a discharge opening for dispensing particulate unloaded from one or more of the tanks. The carriers are mounted to the frame such that the carriers are supported independently of the tanks. The lifting mechanism includes a shiftable positioning rail that at least partially supports each of the carriers, with generally vertical shifting of the positioning rail simultaneously raising or lowering each of the discharge openings. The positioning system includes a plurality of positioning devices, with shifting of each of the positioning devices resulting in fore-and-aft shifting of the corresponding one or more of the discharge openings.

  • Patent number: 7617782
Abstract: A double shoot seed and fertilizer placement unit has a leading shank that cuts a fertilizer trench in the soil, a seed shovel immediately behind but above the lower extremity of the shank to cut one or more seed shelves in the soil above and outboard of the fertilizer trench, a boot behind the shovel that places seeds on the shelf and then drops fertilizer into the fertilizer trench between and below the seeds, and a fertilizer guide member that rides in the fertilizer trench below the fertilizer outlet to maintain the integrity of the trench in preparation for the fertilizer and helps guide the fertilizer down to the bottom of the trench as it emanates from the boot.

  • Publication number: 20080093093
Abstract: A static hydraulic system provides yieldable hold-down force to the ground-engaging tools of an implement when the system is in its hold-down mode. Alternatively, the system can be operated in a way to lift the tools into an elevated ground-clearing position when placed in the lifting mode. An accumulator and pressure-reducing valve are incorporated into the hydraulic circuit in such a way that the system need not be an active hydraulic system in which a pump on the tractor would continuously circulate pressurized fluid in the system during ground-engaging operations in the hold-down mode.

  • Patent number: 7162962
Abstract: The primary distribution hoses on the tillage implement of a pneumatic seeding machine are of different lengths as needed to reach distribution heads or splitters on the implement that further divide the primary streams of materials into individual streams leading directly to the ground-engaging openers of the implement. Notwithstanding the differential in hose length, outlet pressures at the distribution heads are made uniform through the provision of internal flow restrictors associated with those hoses that are shorter than the longest hoses on the machine. Throat diameters of the restrictors vary in accordance with the pressure drop that is needed to match the difference in hose length between the longest hose and the restricted hose. In a preferred embodiment, the restrictors are mounted within nipples on the coupling assembly that releasably connects conduits from a seed cart with the primary hoses on the implement.

  • Patent number: 7073604
Abstract: The transversely extending frame of a machine has a number of hingedly interconnected frame sections that may be raised and lowered by lift cylinders to convert the machine between a wide-spread working position and a folded-up transport position. Two lift cylinders for raising and lowering inner wing frame sections relative to the central main frame section are anchored at their inner ends to a hydraulically operated holding cylinder that effectively adjusts the positions of the anchor points of the lift cylinder in a lateral sense. Thus, when the holding cylinder is fully contracted, the inner wing frame sections may be lowered by their lift cylinders until the lift cylinders are fully extended, but the outer ends of the inner wing frame sections remain tilted upwardly to a certain extent. Thus, outer wing frame sections connected to the outer ends of the inner wing frame sections also remain slightly lifted off the ground until fully unfolded from the inner wing frame sections.

  • Patent number: 6834599
Abstract: An improved collector assembly comprises a generally hollow body mounted below a product supply tank for receiving plural streams of materials metered from the tank. Individual upright passages through the body corresponding in number to the metered streams from the tank receive the gravitating product streams and direct each stream into either or both of an upper loading zone and a lower loading zone in the passage. A diverter valve associated with each upper loading zone can be set to close off the upper loading zone entirely while opening only the lower zone or closing off the lower loading zone while opening only the upper loading zone. Thus, air streams passing transversely through the upper and lower loading zones respectively can be supplied with variable amounts of metered product, depending upon the position of the diverter valve within each passage.

  • Patent number: 6761228
Abstract: In a preferred embodiment of the invention an extension section of a frame is held down in its locked position by the same mechanism that folds and unfolds the frame extension. When the frame extension is in its locked down position, it bears against a limit stop that precludes further movement in an unfolding direction. An operating link that is pushed and pulled by a hydraulic cylinder to manipulate the frame extension is controlled in such a way by a guide member that the line of action of the link is directed transversely toward a guide surface of the guide when the frame extension is in its unfolded position. Thus, only a small amount of force is required from the hydraulic cylinder at that time to maintain the link in its locked position, since most of the load from the link is born by the guide surface at this time. In a preferred embodiment, the line of action of the link is approximately perpendicular to the guide surface.
