  • Publication number: 20030062866
Abstract: A device for controlling a movable member for closing or clearing an opening, such as a sliding roof or a window in a door of a vehicle, a direct-current motor being arranged for driving the movable member, and detection means being arranged for detecting a body being caught between the movable member and an edge of the opening. The detection means are arranged to measure the motor current flowing through the direct-current motor and, upon detection of a predetermined increase of the motor current, or a related quantity, to provide a body-caught detection signal. Further, a position sensor is provided, which can measure the displacement of the movable member. A body-caught detection signal is transmitted only after the position sensor has indicated that the movable member has begun to move.

  • Patent number: 6360449
Abstract: The invention provides a method for realizing a highly compact system for determining a position. This position-determination method can be used for measuring the displacement of the panel of a sliding roof, or the displacement of a window in a side-window control in a motorcar. In general, this method can be used for measuring displacements of objects. For determining a position, a gear wheel is used which is driven by the drive cable and which drives, by means of an eccentric, a second wheel having substantially the same center as the first wheel. As a result, this second wheel rotates much more slowly than the first wheel. Mounted on a ring on the first wheel are crenellations which rotate through an optical slotted sensor whereby incremental position information is provided. On a concentric second ring on the wheel, with only one crenellation, another slotted sensor is disposed, which provides a reference pulse which, however, occurs several times over the total distance.

  • Patent number: 5608380
Abstract: A deactivation and coding system for a contactless antitheft or identification label, uses a pyrotechnic material to burn away a track portion, whereby an electrical connection is severed. The labels in the system according to the invention consist of tuned circuits in the form of one or more coil/capacitor combinations. Deactivation can be effected by severing the connection between a coil and the associated capacitor. Coding can be effected by severing the connection with one of several parallel-connected coils or capacitors. Coding can also be effected by removing an initial short-circuit of one of several series-connected capacitors. The pyrotechnic material may consist of one or a combination of the mixtures Pb.sub.3 O.sub.4, Si, Ti and Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 ; PbCrO.sub.4, and Zr; Pb.sub.3 O.sub.4, Si and KNO.sub.2 ; and Pb.sub.3 O.sub.4 and Si or a mixture having comparable properties.

  • Patent number: 5438960
Abstract: A detection and weighing device for selectively distinguishing two groups of animals, such as for instance cocks and hens, one of the groups to be distinguished being provided with a detection element, for instance a label, consisting of or provided with amorphous magnetic material. This material is recognized with the aid of an alternating magnetic field and a receiving coil suitable for that purpose, and the presence or absence of the detection element, together with the weight determined by the weighing device on which the detection system is arranged, indicates whether an animal from one group or the other group is involved, so that, for instance, the average weight of the two groups can be determined. Instead of being used in combination with a weighing device, this detection device can also be used while being coupled to other presence-detection devices.
