  • Patent number: 6782212
Abstract: A coherent optical communication receiver of a satellite optical communication system, having a telescope, an automatic frequency control circuit and a frequency shift keying demodulator. The automatic frequency control circuit has a local oscillating laser, a light polarization controller, a optical coupler, a photo-detector, a microwave matching network, a microwave mixer, a frequency discriminator and a low pass frequency filter. The coherent optical communication receiver can receive a frequency control signal of a distant laser signal to perform a heterodyne receiving between the emitter and the receiver distant away from each other. With the consideration of the decay of vibration and atmosphere, the quality of the satellite optical communication can still be maintained. The structure and fabrication of the receiver are simple with a low fabrication cost, and the receiver is suitable for being applied to high speed satellite communication system.

  • Patent number: 6777994
Abstract: To reduce the effect of the phase shift error originated from the mismatch of the delay units of the clock generator, we propose to add one more set of averaging amplifiers and averaging impedances, such as resistors, into the circuit of the clock generator. In the clock generator, outputs of all delay units connect to inputs of all averaging amplifiers respectively, and the averaging impedances connect the corresponding outputs of two adjacent averaging amplifiers, so as to form a closed loop. When a phase shift error occurs in the delay units, the averaging current through the averaging impedances will decrease the phase shift error in each stage. Specifically, the output impedance of the averaging amplifiers approaches infinite, and thus the resistance of the averaging impedances is relatively small. Therefore almost all signal currents will go through the averaging impedances, and an optimal averaging effect is achieved.

  • Patent number: 6736243
Abstract: A mechanical type disc brake for bicycle mainly includes a housing, a mounting bracket for connecting the housing to a fork of the bicycle, a pull bar pivotally connected to an outer side of the housing, an actuating rod extended into the housing via the pull bar, and a toggle mechanism, two sliders, two brake linings, and a restoring element separately mounted in a locating space in the house at predetermined positions. When the pull bar is pulled, the actuating rod is caused to vertically act on the toggle mechanism for two actuating blocks thereof to move outward and push the sliders and the brake linings to create a brake effect. Contact surfaces between the actuating blocks of the toggle mechanism and the sliders are cambered surfaces to avoid an overly large frictional force between the brake linings and brake discs that would result in a brake dragging.

  • Patent number: 6738387
Abstract: A design of scalable techniques for Quality of Service (QoS) routing and forwarding, used to reduce the blocking probability of the flow requests, and to achieve storage and computational scalability. Three techniques have been designed: 1) an overflowed cache 2) a per-class routing mark, and 3) a two-phase routing, which can be implemented individually or simultaneously. From the evaluation results of the system simulation, show that the three scalable techniques can significantly lower the blocking probability as well as the storage and computational overheads. Such advantages make the present invention to achieve the scalability for the Quality of Services routing and forwarding.

  • Patent number: 6704322
Abstract: A smart different prime code multiplexing system. Using the characteristic that two different prime codes do not interfere with each other, these two prime codes are combined to replace the conventional asynchronous division multiple access. Without affecting the user and the original data, in the original optical fiber transmission system, other users or data are dynamically added to improve the insufficient capacity of the prime code system. The decoding capacity is thus raised to achieve the objective of multiple access. Furthermore, in the invention, a synchronous parallel prime code is used to increase the original asynchronous decoding capacity. Therefore, a decoding capacity in the asynchronous system similar to that of the synchronous system is obtained. Characteristics such as ultra-high capacity and ultra-high operating speed can also be achieved.

  • Patent number: 6693158
Abstract: This invention provides a method for syntheses of new electroluminescent conjugated polymers modified with high electronegative heterocyclic groups (such as 1,3,4-oxadiazole-diyl, 1,3,4-thiadiazole-diyl, and 1,2,4-triazole-diyl). These electroluminescent polymers (homopolymers, statistical copolymers or block coplymers) are obtained by polymerization of bis(halomethyl) arenes modified with heterocyclic groups via the Wessling precursor route, Gilch side chain route, Wittig reaction or Wittig-Hornor reaction. By a proper selection of the monomers and their ratios in the polymerization, the emissive polymers (fully conjugated or limited conjugating length) covering the full visible range even extending to the near-IR range can be prepared. The polymeric light emitting diodes (PLED) with these materials as emissive layer or electron transport layer have high external quantum efficiency and can be used as indicators and displays for cellular phones, pagers, portable computer, wristwatch, toys, etc.

  • Patent number: 6689645
Abstract: In the fabrication of gate oxides in IC process, a suitable cleaning/etching process is required to remove the native oxides and reduce surface microroughness in addition to standard RCA cleaning. For ultrathin oxide thickness (<10 nm), it is an important issue to have a native-oxide-free and H-passivated silicon (Si) surface to ensure high breakdown field, high charge-to-breakdown, and low leakage current. According to these concepts, we propose an invention with a simple two-step hydrogen fluoride (HF) etching process to improve the electrical properties of liquid-phase deposited fluorinated silicon oxides (LPD-SiOF), including effective removal of native oxides, lowering of interface trap density (˜1010 eV−1 cm−2), reduction of surface microroughness (Ra=0.1 nm), and raising of breakdown field (˜9.7 MV/cm). Furthermore, rapid thermal annealing (RTA) is also used to further improve the oxide quality.

  • Patent number: 6680478
Abstract: Amorphous silicon/amorphous silicon germanium NI1PI2N position detectors are fabricated to suppress visible light and increase detection of infrared light. The material of I1 layer is amorphous silicon or amorphous silicon germanium used to absorb visible light, and material of I2 layer is amorphous silicon germanium or amorphous germanium used to absorb infrared light. A suppression of signal due to the absorption of the visible light and amplification of signals due to absorption of the infrared light can be obtained when the NI1P diode is forward biased and the P12N diode is reverse biased. The optical band gap of the I1 and I2 layers can be controlled by the Si/Ge atomic ratio. The suppression of visible light and enhanced detection of infrared light may be tuned by controlling thickness and optical band gaps of the I1 and I2 layers. The amorphous silicon and amorphous silicon germanium layers may be deposited by square-wave modulation at 13.56 MHz.
