  • Patent number: 10390540
Abstract: The present invention relates to non-edible collagen casings for food products which do not have to be soaked in water or brine just before stuffing (ready-to-stuff casings), and the method for preparing them. More specifically, the invention refers to a preparation of a stabilized longlife non-edible collagen casing ready-to-stuff comprising a moisture amount between 27% and 50% by weight based on total casing weight and a salt amount between 2,5% and 30% by weight based on dry casing weight, wherein the salt comprises a salt from an organic acid and wherein the casing is packed.

  • Patent number: 8357411
Abstract: A multi-perforated collagen film is provided on rolls or in the form of sheets for use as a food wrapping. The perforations and made by laser of substantially circular shape with an average ellipticity of less than 0.17 and the holes are spaced with respect to their nearest neighbors by 3 to 14 mm, thus allowing the escape of air or steam trapped between the film and the food wrapped in the film. The film still has sufficient mechanical strength and extensibility to be able to stand the food processing steps in the manufacture of cooked ham or in comparable operations under industrial conditions.

  • Patent number: 8153176
Abstract: The present invention relates to biodegradable protein based thermoset compositions formulated from a powder of a dry and finely ground protein material, from which the water has been thoroughly removed, an anhydrous and liquid alcohol and other optional additives. The inventions also relates to the method for obtaining these compositions in which the components are homogeneously mixed, under controlled conditions of temperature and moisture, to obtain a homogenous and shelf-cohesive mass, that can be shaped in any predetermined form by diverse molding methods, being readily set through the application of a certain amount of heat during a short period of time, which enables it to turn into a solid shaped body or article through a very simple process.

  • Patent number: 6998160
Abstract: The invention relates to a five-layered, biaxially oriented, shrinkable, sealable tubular film for the packaging and wrapping of paste-like foodstuffs, meat, or meat with bones and to the use thereof. The tubular film of the invention has an inner layer comprised of at least one copolyamide and at least one modified polyolefin, a layer of a modified polyolefin, a middle layer comprised of at least one homopolyamide and/or at lest one copolyamide and/or at least one copolymer of ethylene and vinyl alcohol and/or a modified polyolefin, a layer of at least one ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer, and an outer layer comprised of at least one polyolefin and/or at least one modified polyolefin. Such tubular films involve a significant improvement in the seal seam strength, in particular at low sealing temperatures, a high impermeability to oxygen and a comparable to markedly higher resistance to puncturing compared to prior art films.
