Abstract: In a method of assembling a double-row ball bearing of a preload-type, which includes a step of inserting a plurality of balls in a crescent-shaped gap formed between an outer race and an inner race which is deviated with respect to the outer race, a step of distributing the balls between the outer and inner races at equal intervals, and a step of disposing the outer race and the inner race concentrically with respect to each other, a step of producing a temperature difference is performed before the step of distributing the balls at equal intervals. In the step of producing temperature difference, the outer race is heated by a heating coil surrounding the outer race to expand the outer race.

Abstract: A long-life bearing steel and a long-life rolling bearing made of the steel are disclosed. In the steel, the number of oxide or oxide-based inclusion particles in a given unit area A of 160 mm.sup.3 with an average particle size of 3 to 30 .mu.m is 80 or less and an abundance of oxide or oxide-base inclusion particles with 10 .mu.m or more average particle size to oxide or oxide-based inclusion particles having an average particle size of 3 to 30 .mu.m is below 2%. An electron beam melting extraction evaluation method irradiating electron beam under the following condition guarantees the cleanness of the steel: 350 V+100.ltoreq.J.ltoreq.700 V+200, wherein J represents electric charge power in W provided by electron beam and V represents a sample volume in cm.sup.3.

The angle of metal flow determined by a tangent line of the metal flow and the axis of rotation of the rolling member is 10.degree. or larger to improve the service line against rolling fatigue.

Abstract: In measuring the accuracy of a thread groove of a ball thread formed in a nut by using an electric micrometer, a displacement of one point on each of a pair of flanks of the thread groove is measured along a longitudinal direction of the thread groove, and a pair of measured data sequences are obtained respectively for the pair of flanks. The data elements of the pair of measured data sequences are grouped into a plurality of groups so that each group includes a pair of data elements which are respectively contained in the pair of measured data sequences and which are corresponding to each other. The accuracy in the depth direction of the thread groove with respect to a reference thread groove is obtained on the basis of a sum of the data elements in each group, and the accuracy in the thread axis direction is obtained on the basis of a difference between the data elements in each pair.
Abstract: A coupler of a collapsible shaft for a steering device comprises a shaft member having a male serration formed at an end of an outer periphery thereof; a tube member having a female serration for engaging with the male serration groove formed at at least an end of an inner periphery thereof; synthetic resin intervened between the shaft member and the tube member in order to axially secure the shaft member and the tube member coupled through the engagement of the male serration and the female serration. Through-holes are formed at a plurality of positions around a circumference at the end of the tube member and a concave groove is formed around an entire circumference at the end of the outer periphery of the shaft member. A plurality of ribs are formed around a circumference on the bottom of the concave groove, and the synthetic resin filled into the groove through the through-hole is solidified between the female serration and the ribs.
Abstract: A resilient connector for a steering shaft connecting a wheel steering system and a steering handle, comprises a flange member connected to a first shaft member extending from the wheel steering system, particularly in such a manner that it can be shifted axially but not rotated with respect to the first shaft member; a yoke member connected through a universal joint to a second shaft member extending from the steering handle; a resilient member arranged between the flange member and the yoke member; a first connecting member for connecting the flange member to the resilient member; and a second connecting member for connecting the yoke member to the resilient member. Vibration from the wheel steering system is prevented from being transmitted to the steering handle by the resilient member, and the resilient member permits an axial movement of the first shaft member during a collision.

The component includes a magnet and at least one member located adjacent the magnet. The magnet is molded or cast in situ in the adjacent member, preferably by integrally incorporating a magnetizable member in the adjacent member upon formation of the latter by molding or casting and then subjecting the magnetizable member to magnetization.

Abstract: A rack-pinion steering mechanism for a vehicle, comprises a housing, a pinion shaft having housed within the housing a pinion and first and second supporting portions respectively disposed to opposite sides of the pinion, and a rack shaft having a rack meshed with the pinion within the housing, the rack shaft being shiftable in an axial direction thereof by rotation of the pinion to shift a tie rod axially. The second supporting portion of the pinion shaft is supported within the housing by a corresponding bearing, and the first supporting portion is supported within the housing by a pair of angular rolling bearings having respective inner races fixed to the first supporting portion and respective outer races abutted with one another. The outer races are held with a predetermined pre-load in abutment between a stepped portion of the housing and a nut threaded to the housing and pressing against the outer races but not pressing against the inner races.
Abstract: In a projection exposure device in which an exposure light from a light source device is transmitted through a mask having a predetermined pattern formed therein and then an image of a mask pattern is focused by a projection lens on an exposure member held by a holding mechanism, an exposure light is emitted from the light source device along a horizontal optical axis. The mask, the projection lens and the exposure member are disposed on the horizontal optical axis and the holding mechanism is formed such that the exposure member is movable at least within a plane perpendicular to the horizontal optical axis. The distortion of the exposure member can be prevented to enable exposure at high accuracy and, also, with high throughput by holding the exposure member vertically, mask alignment is facilitated, the effect of heat from the light source can be minimized, and the size and the cost of the device can be reduced.
Abstract: A resolver system includes a resolver having an annular rotor, and an annular stator arranged around the annular rotor in spaced relationship thereto. The rotor and the stator are arranged such that the reluctance of a space defined between the rotor and the stator varies with a change in the angular position of the rotor in such a fashion that one revolution of the rotor causes one cycle of a fundamental frequency component of variation of the reluctance.The stator has formed thereon a plurality of pole shoes circumferentially arranged at intervals of 120.degree. or 60.degree. to form three of six phases, each of the pole shoes having a single kind of winding wound thereon. A servo driver applies an excitation signal to each of the windings on the pole shoes of the stator to excite same.
Abstract: A universal joint yoke comprises: (a) a generally cylindrical connecting part made by press-forming a metal plate and having internal peripheral serrations, a first end portion at which edges of the metal plate are brought into abutment to form a tubular abutting part, a second end portion with a pair of flanges disposed at opposite sides of an axial gap and facing one another substantially in parallel, and a pair of reentrant cut-outs with a respective one of the cut-outs being disposed between each flange and the abutting part, and (b) a pair of diametrically opposed connecting arms integrally formed with the first end portion of the connecting part and extending axially outwardly from the first end portion of the connecting part. One of the flanges is provided with a tapped hole and the other of the flanges is provided with a through-hole coaxial with the tapered hole for passing a bolt to be screwed inito the tapped hole.

Abstract: An electric steering apparatus which effects position adjustment by electric drive has a screw shaft parallel to upper and lower columns. A nut member rotatably supported by a housing fixed to a bracket is fixed against movement in the axial direction of the screw shaft and threadably engaged with a screw portion provided at one end of the screw shaft. In a preferred embodiment the other end of the screw shaft is pivotally connected to the upper column for pivotal movement relative to the bracket in the direction of tilt. The nut member is self-aligning in the housing, and the nut member is rotatively driven by an electric motor to move the screw shaft in the axial direction and thereby move the upper column, whereby position adjustment can be accomplished. The apparatus is provided with a back-lash preventing device in which the screw shaft is pressed against the nut member in a radial direction and the threadably engaged portions of the screw shaft and the nut member are urged against each other.
